News + Events Discipleship Hour with IYG: Indiana Youth Group (IYG) creates safe spaces, provides wellness programming and educates LGBTQ youth and the community. Please join us for Discipleship Hour at 9:30 a.m. TODAY in Resurrection Hall when a representative from IYG speaks about the organization as well as educates and equips us to be confident allies. Questions? Contact Julie Jessee at community@rlcindy.org. Stephen Ministers are lay people who provide one-to-one Christ-centered care for people who are hurting. This ministry is led at Resurrection by Stephen Leaders. Today in worship, Bev Ledwon, Scott Deitch and Pastor Ryan Bailey, will be commissioned in both services as Resurrection s newest Stephen Leaders. These three now join Susie Johnson, Tom Welch, Lynnette Browder and Helen Welter in the service of training and supervising our Stephen Ministers. Please join us in celebrating the new leaders, as well as the current and past leaders, all of whom are dedicated to helping people who are experiencing difficult times in their lives. Interested in helping with THIS year s Vacation Bible School? VBS at Resurrection is Monday, June 3 to Friday June 7! Find out how you can be involved! There will be an informational meeting Wednesday, Feb. 27 at 6 p.m. in Room 8. Can t make the meeting but want more information? Contact Trisha Thompson trisha.n.thompson@gmail.com or (317) 506-0504. Quilters and sewers: Join us for our next Quiltmakers gathering Saturday, March 2 from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. We are devoting this time to completing a special project for the upcoming I-K WELCA Biennial Convention. Please bring your portable sewing machine, a lunch and enjoy the day with us. Prefer to sew quilt tops at home? Pick up a quilt top sewing kit from the display in the narthex and challenge yourself to complete and return a finished top in 30 days - then repeat. More tops sewn at home really helps to speed up the quilt making process, allowing those of us gathering at the parish to focus on sandwiching, sewing and tying. Questions? Call Pat Hamby at (317) 508-9015. First Communion Instruction: Pastor Ryan is offering First Communion instruction at 6 p.m. in the Luther Room on Wednesday evenings during Lent (March 13 - April 10). Children in fourth grade normally participate in these classes, but older children who haven t yet received the instruction are welcome and encouraged to attend as well. Participating students will receive their first communion during Maundy Thursday worship on April 18 at 7 p.m. Questions? Contact Pastor Ryan: prryan@rlcindy.org. A note about children communing at RLC: We normally offer first communion instruction for 4th graders, however, parents are free to discern whether their children may begin communing at an earlier age. Parents may wish to include one of the pastors in that discernment process, and we encourage you to let us know if your child is going to commune earlier than 4th grade so we can support your family s faith decisions appropriately.

News + Events (cont.) Ash Wednesday: Save the date and make plans to join us for Ash Wednesday worship, March 6 at 7 p.m. Worship includes Holy Communion and the imposition of ashes for those who desire it. All are welcome! Weekender Backpack Ministry is collecting 16 oz. plastic containers of smooth/creamy peanut butter throughout February to send home with the kids over spring break. Donations are greatly appreciated and can be placed on the white racks outside of Resurrection Hall on the Weekender shelf. Questions? Contact Jennifer Prickel at (317) 403-8556. The Food Pantry Ministry: The Food Pantry Ministry will be collecting donations for IPS Eleanor Skillen School #34 food pantry. The school helps 40 parents once a month with a box of food which includes canned vegetables, cereal, pasta sauce, pasta, soup, toilet tissue, soap, peanut butter, jelly, eggs, milk and bread. It is supported by churches such as Resurrection, families at the school and community donations. Please consider donating any of these items. Pasta and long grain rice continue to be donated to Second Helpings. Second Helpings prepares meals at their center and sends them all across Indianapolis. Community centers, churches, homeless shelters, after school programs and our own Friday Community Meals ministry benefit from their work. Please place donated items on the white shelves outside Resurrection Hall. Weekly suggestions for February: Feb. 24: breakfast cereals and soups Every Week: pasta and long grain rice RLC Café hospitality: Help Resurrection continue to foster a warm and welcoming atmosphere in our Café on Sunday mornings. Long-time members, guests and inquirers are invited to join Pastor Ryan for Discipleship Hour in Resurrection Hall each Sunday during the season of Lent (Sundays March 10 - April 14) for a joy-filled exploration of Christian faith as it is practiced in the Lutheran tradition.
