We have chosen the way of truth. Psalm 119:30 VOLUME 2 September 29, 2013 NUMBER 39 From the Pastor s Heart Greetings Southside Family, If you are visiting with us today, let me be the first to extend a word of welcome to you. We are so glad you chose to join us for worship today. Our prayer is that you will discover the presence of God as we worship together. May you discover that Southside is alive and vibrant due to a love for a risen Savior. Please make plans to be back tonight for "Church on the Street". We will meet at 5pm in the sanctuary for a brief time of worship and prayer. The church will provide brochures and Gospel tracts to pass out. We have been studying the book of Acts on Sunday nights and seeing through the scriptures of how the Gospel was spread by word of mouth. The bus and van will be provided if needed to take people to designated places to canvas with the Gospel. For many, we realize that you may not be able to physically walk up and down streets, but we would love for you to come along and be a prayer warrior for those that are taking the Gospel to the streets. Many of you have shared that you have lists of names that you are preparing to go and visit and some have shared that they are going to use this afternoon to make visits that they have been postponing. The staff and I are grateful for your willingness to go and your concern for many in Dothan that are not prepared for the coming of Jesus. We do ask that, if at all possible, you could come to church first this afternoon before you go out to visit. What a great sight it would be to see many gathered together this afternoon before we went out! "Then He said to His disciples, "The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few." Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest."(matthew 9:37-38). What a privilege it is to go in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ! In Christ, Bro. Stacy

Dear Southsiders, Thoughts from Bro. Kevin If you're visiting with us today, thank you so much for coming! I pray that you are welcomed and feel the love of Christ through the wonderful church family here at Southside that my family and I felt our first time here. In John 13:35, Jesus says "By this will all men know that you are my disciples, if you have love one for another." That is what we want to model here at SBC, the love of Christ that proves our allegiance to Him! We have a lot of things going on here between now and the end of this year. In order to facilitate easier scheduling of some of the meetings that go along with some of my duties, we will be moving choir practice back to Sunday afternoons for the foreseeable future. We will have Sunday afternoon practices at 4:00 pm beginning the October 6th and we will start looking at our Christmas Cantata that day as well. If you've been out of choir or if you've considered joining, this is a great time to start! October 2nd, we will have a Sunday School teachers and officers meeting in the Choir Room immediately following our Breakout Classes that Wednesday night. This is a critical meeting and we need ALL teachers and helpers to be there if at all possible. As a word to encourage, not to rebuke, let me challenge you to consider that as you are gifted to serve and are placed here at Southside to use your gift, it would be a shame to miss out on making the most of it for the glory of God by not taking advantage of every opportunity to grow. When we have services, meetings, practices, etc. and you're not here, we miss you and you miss out. Please prayerfully consider making a renewed effort to do one of the most important things you can do for God... show up! Blessings, Bro. Kevin MINISTRY OPPORTUNITY September 29th thru October 18th Time Change Beginning October 6 We are going back to Sunday afternoons at 4:00PM! Come join us and sing praises to our Lord! A Moment with Rhonda Happy Sunday morning everyone, Sr. Adults, tomorrow is the big day! We will be leaving for the Jubilee Conference at 5:00 a.m. Please be on time. Southside family, please pray for us to have a safe trip and a wonderful time of fellowship together. Don't forget to bring your candy for the Fall Corn Maze event. We will be filling bags of candy for the children. If you prefer to give money, that is fine. I will purchase it for you. Our Sr. Adult Choir will be joining Bethel and Memphis again to sing a couple of songs at the Sr. Adult Revival on Oct. 7th. We will have a special practice on next Thurs., Oct. 3rd. We will leave the church at 9:00 a.m. to go to Bethel. Mon., Oct. 7th is another great opportunity to hear great singing and preaching. We will leave the church at 9:00 a.m. to go to Rehobeth Baptist Church for our annual Sr. Adult Revival. Bro. Ted Traylor, pastor of Olive Baptist Church will be preaching. There will be several choirs and opportunities for you to sing-along. Remember, to let me know if you plan to have lunch with us that day. I will need to make some reservations. Our annual Fall Children's event will be held at Aplin Farms on Sun. night, Oct. 20th. This is a CHURCHWIDE event, so everyone bring your canvas chairs so that you can sit around the campfire. We will have music, a devotion, roast marshmallows, enjoy a hotdog supper, and visit the corn maze (if you would like). If you are planning to visit the corn maze, remember to bring a flash light. It will probably be dark. Please make plans to come. I am looking forward to a great time of fellowship.
