pray us WITH 28 DAYS OF PRAYER

day 1 Bibleless People day 2 Bible Translators People from 1,575 language groups have no access to Scripture. Ask God to give hope to those still waiting to read Scripture for the first time. Pray for global communities to receive God s Word with joy as it becomes available. Pastor Malasi is translating the New Testament into Tiwa for a community in Northeast India. Ask God to provide wisdom, strength, and resources to translators like Malasi as they strive to make his Word available in communities worldwide. day 3 Deaf People 70 million people worldwide use sign language as their first or only language. Pray for the translation and distribution of Scripture in sign language so that deaf communities can encounter God in a Bible they understand. YOUR WORD IS A LAMP TO GUIDE ME AND A LIGHT FOR MY PATH. Psalm 119:105 (GNT) Approximately 165 million people are still waiting to read one verse of the Bible in their heart language. day 4 Local Churches & Pastors day 5 Bible Translation Agencies day 6 Oral Communities day 7 Unreached People Groups Ask God to give local church leaders wisdom for sharing God s Word with their congregations. Pray that church members discover how to explore the Bible, especially in areas where people can t read. Praise God that a global coalition of Bible ministries is already working together to accelerate translation work. Ask God to continue unifying organizations and translation agencies working to translate the Bible into 100% of the world s languages. The Ovaherero people of Namibia are an oral culture waiting for a Bible. Pray for their hearts to be transformed when they hear God s Word in their language for the first time. Ask God to guide those working to produce audio Bibles for oral communities in Namibia and wherever illiteracy is a barrier. People in the remote village of Kagera, Tanzania, had never heard of Jesus until last year when they saw the JESUS film and listened to Audio Scriptures. Pray that God s Word will continue to reach people in the most remote regions of the world with salvation and hope. BIBLE TRANSLATION

THE LORD IS THERE TO RESCUE ALL WHO ARE DISCOURAGED AND HAVE GIVEN UP HOPE. Psalm 34:18 (CEV) 1 billion people in the world have experienced trauma. TRAUMA HEALING day 8 Refugees day 9 Vulnerable Children day 10 Disaster Victims day 11 Hurting Women day 12 Persecuted Believers day 13 Imprisoned People day 14 Abuse Survivors There are 22.5 million refugees worldwide, over half of whom are under the age of 18. Ask God to comfort all those living in refugee camps due to violence in their nations. Ask God to continually provide for their physical and emotional needs. Moussa fears terrorists will attack his village in the Sahel region of Africa. Ask God to protect vulnerable children like Moussa who are abandoned, abused, facing poverty, living in war zones, or are in danger of being exploited. Pray that God will bring them peace and keep them from harm. Ask God to bring hope to survivors of natural disasters whose lives were shattered by earthquakes, floods, hurricanes, and other storms. Pray that they will discover peace in God s love and turn to him for hope. Women unjustly exiled to remote camps in Ghana are finding healing in God s Word. Ask God to heal women worldwide who suffer from physical, emotional, and spiritual wounds. Pray they discover power and joy in God s Word. Christians in more than 60 countries face persecution from their governments or surrounding neighbors because of their belief in Jesus Christ. Pray that God would strengthen persecuted believers and that they would draw encouragement from his Word. 97% of incarcerated women and 75% of incarcerated men experienced trauma prior to imprisonment. While in jail, Harmony came to faith in Jesus and was healed from her past trauma. Pray for people like Harmony to be healed from their deep wounds of trauma as they bring their pain to Jesus, the Wounded Healer. Miriam s husband hurts her at their home in Jordan. He once tried to stab her. He punishes her for her faith in Jesus. When Miriam joined a trauma healing group, she found a safe space to talk about her suffering and bring her heartache to the cross. Pray that abuse survivors like Miriam who often suffer in silence will lift up their voices to God.

THE LORD BLESSES EACH NATION THAT WORSHIPS ONLY HIM. HE BLESSES HIS CHOSEN ONES. Psalm 33:12 (CEV) 155 million Americans believe our nation can be better. The Bible can help us get there. TRANSFORMING AMERICA day 15 Churches & Pastors day 16 Families day 17 Racial Reconciliation day 18 Troops & Veterans day 19 Roman Catholics day 20 Visitors to the Faith & Liberty Discovery Center day 21 Cities day 22 Law Enforcement Rev. Burton witnessed the young people in his Sunday school class get excited about Scripture after reading the New Testament together over 40 days. Pray for U.S. churches and pastors like Rev. Burton who are working to inspire a hunger for God s Word in their church communities. Thirty Brooklyn parishes participated in the Family Bible Expereince, which empowers families to read Scripture together. Pray for families to grow in their love for reading the Bible together and for their relationships to be strengthened. As America continues to grapple with issues of race, pray for healing, forgiveness, and justice for our nation. Pray for the church to be a leading voice in race conversations, turning to Jesus s example in the Bible. There are 1.3 million active duty Military members, 800 thousand reserve forces, and 18.8 million Veterans in the U.S. Ask God to heal troops and Veterans struggling with spiritual, emotional, and physical injuries. Pray they experience the comforting power of the Holy Spirit. 76 million Americans are Catholic. Pray for Roman Catholic Church leaders as they inspire church communities to explore God s Word with fresh eyes. Pray for Catholic Christians to encounter Jesus s peace and power in Scripture. Coming in 2020, this immersive experience will invite Americans to explore the Bible in American culture. Pray for the 250,000 projected annual visitors to encounter the transformative power of God s Word as they interact with the exhibits and stories of Bible-led Americans. Ezperanza a faith-based organization is empowering more than 100 hispanic churches in Philadelphia to dig deeper into God s Word this year. Pray for partners like Esperanza across the U.S. who work to transform their cities through the power of Scripture. Ask God to protect women and men in law enforcement. Pray that police officers and chaplains will experience hope and strength as they explore God s Word.

FINALLY, OUR FRIENDS, PRAY FOR US THAT THE LORD S MESSAGE MAY CONTINUE TO SPREAD RAPIDLY AND BE RECEIVED WITH HONOR, JUST AS IT WAS AMONG YOU. 2 Thessalonians 3:1 (GNT) 250 staff members at American Bible Society work to share God s Word with people around the world, serving alongside nearly 150 Bible Societies in 200 countries and territories around the world. day 23 Empowered by God s Spirit day 24 Health and Strength for Staff day 25 God-inspired Creativity day 26 Bible Society Partnerships day 27 Global Collaboration day 28 Stewardship Ask God to empower us with his Holy Spirit to bring his Word to the ends of the earth through a posture of love and compassion. I am the Lord All-Powerful. So don t depend on your own power or strength, but on my Spirit. Zechariah 4:6b (CEV) Ask God to protect us to guard our hearts, minds, and bodies from the evil one. And to shield our families from any danger and keep us healthy for this work. The Lord is good. He protects those who trust him in times of trouble. Nahum 1:7 (CEV) Pray that God will give us wisdom and strategies to respond to ever-changing cultures, government regulations, and needs around the world. Do not abandon wisdom, and she will protect you; love her, and she will keep you safe. Proverbs 4:6 (GNT) Ask God to foster unprecedented unity among all Bible Societies around the world so God s Word will reach far and wide. The group of believers was one in mind and heart. None of them said that any of their belongings were their own, but they all shared with one another everything they had. Acts 4:32 (GNT) Pray that God will continue to guide us in collaborating with churches in the U.S. and ministries around the world to bring the Bible to every person. Lord our God, may your blessings be with us. Give us success in all we do! Psalm 90:17 (GNT) Ask God to continue guiding us as we steward the generous gifts our partners have blessed us with. In every ministry decision we make, we want to honor the legacy of those who partner with us every day. Pray that we never lose sight of that vision. But if any of you lack wisdom, you should pray to God, who will give it to you; because God gives generously and graciously to all. James 1:5 (GNT) AMERICAN BIBLE SOCIETY STAFF
