Plan to attend and give them a Happy Send-off. Can You See the Window? H ow many of us keep our eyes on the door? We wait for it to open so that we can step into the next part of our journey. The open door calls us into a new adventure; a hope for rejuvenation. If only that door would open, we would gladly respond, but it stays locked. It will not budge. In its place is left frustration and disappointment. We remain so fixated on the door that we fail to see the open window on the other side of the room. It is the gateway to what we can be, but we are not aware the window is even there. We are missing incredible opportunities because the door gets in our way. There must be a way that we can look past what we expect and embrace what can be. Today I am grateful that we are not limited to a door, but endless possibilities in which we can step into the light of hope and love. God's path does not always lead us into what is expected but encourages us to journey through unexpected possibilities. We are called to journey, no matter where the path may lead. Wherever we go, Holy Light will be there to guide us through the darkest of places. Praise be to our God, who guides us on the journey. May we remember that windows can sometimes lead us to great adventures that may never be found through a door. We must be willing to look around the room to discover the possibilities. Let us take the leap in faith to discover the sacred riches. Thanks be to God, who gives us the victory in Christ, our Lord. On a personal note, thank you for being a loving congregation during the six years that we shared together in ministry. It has been my honor to be a living witness to your lives. We laughed together when people and events were funny. We cried together when life grew sad and we lost some of our best and brightest. Throughout it all, we never forgot the reality that God sustains us and illuminates our paths. May we remember the provider of the strength within us and say, Thank You, Dear God. Take care as you embark on a new and exciting journey. God s Peace to You All, Pastor Joe

TEN BENEFITS OF PRAYER From Ibelieve.com Prayer Corner Sunday, May 27, 2018 Prayer Deepens a Persons Faith in God Because prayer is our communion with God, each time we approach the Lord through prayer, our faith strengthens. God promises that He hears the prayers of His people. Prayer Releases Anxiety Jesus called the weak and weary to come to him for rest. Prayer Deepens Fellowship With God Through prayer, we learn the heart of our Heavenly Father. Prayer Connects Us With Other Believers Scripture encourages us to pray with others and for others. Prayer Brings Us Towards Forgiveness Not only is confession good for the soul, but it is necessary to receive forgiveness for our sins from God. Prayer Helps Us Discern and Accept God s Will When Jesus disciples asked him how to pray, one part of his prayer was to ask that God s will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Through this petition, we learn the importance of discerning and accepting God s will for our lives. Prayer Helps Us Adopt an Attitude of Gratefulness The Bible encourages believers to approach God with an attitude of praise and thanksgiving. We are to recognize Him for who He is and what He has done for us. Prayer Gives Us Wisdom The book of James states that wisdom is a free gift to anyone who asks God. King Solomon asked the Lord for wisdom and he was the wisest man who ever lived. Prayer Helps Us Set Our Minds on God The more time we spend with God and focus on Him, the more it will translate into our daily lives. Prayer Helps Us Combat Pride When we go to God in prayer, our attitude should be one of humility because we recognize the greatness of His glory and the gratefulness of our grace. In so doing, we learn to combat the pride that wells up within us. It will also consider the following resolutions: A resolution, submitted by the Conference Board of Church and Society, that encourages Conference churches to pray for victims and perpetrators of human trafficking and to become more active in spreading awareness about and encouraging enforcement of laws to prevent human trafficking. A resolution submitted by the Conference of United Methodist Women, that would encourage churches to reduce or eliminate the use of single-use plastics such as bottled water, grocery bags, straws, and eating utensils.
