If so, please call me at 994-0885 or e-mail me at waltbetmax@aol.com. Pastor s Note Dear Ones, M y furniture has arrived and now the job of unpacking begins. Thank you so much for the warm welcome you extended to me. I am grateful to call Rio Rancho home. I truly appreciate the pounding - those gift cards have been a blessing, even when I only had one frying pan and 2 saucepans. If your welcome to me is an indication of what newcomers and visitors experience when they visit Rio Rancho UMC, they will be blessed. I encourage you continue to ask people to join us for worship that we may extend Christ s love to them. I am beginning to learn more about the activities of RRUMC and the great people who call this place home. I hear the preschool kids down the hall. I hear the chorus of Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious from the other side and am so proud of the opportunities we offer our children and for others to serve. Please, as the end of summer looms, consider how you might join our team of volunteers who serve this church. Hozho, Pastor Raquel

Prayer Corner Sunday, July 22, 2018 Praying When In Fear By Mary DeMuth, The Wall Around Your Heart hen you re close to death, you tend to W see your life flash on the movie theater of your mind. Which I did. But I also saw Jesus. I flew from South Africa to Washington, DC, after Cape Town 2010, a humbling, invigorating conference. Our plane stopped in Dakar to refuel before its long flight across the Atlantic in the dead of night. The man next to me had also attended the conference, so we talked about our experiences and our lives back home. Then we drifted off to sleep. In one violent drop, at 2:00 a.m. our plane free-fell probably a thousand feet. Personal items flew about the cabin. People screamed. I felt the sting of my seat belt holding me back in my chair. The next moment, the plane s nose pointed oceanward. We angled toward the earth. For several seconds. I knew I would die. I prayed. I saw my life flash. Then Jesus. Not in a vision. Just a knowing. I breathed deeply and realized that in this last moment of life, I needed Him Him alone. My heart that had rattled and skipped in the noseward dive instantly felt peace. The plane jerked its way to blessed horizontal. The pilot said nothing, never did tell us what happened. I thought on the enormity of God, who watches every airplane flight, who cares about each person aboard. I hushed in that holy moment, settled my heart before Him, and once again gave Him my life. Problems will come and go too. We must enjoy the Challenges just like we enjoy the Waves. Author Unknown When the sunshine of God s love meets the showers of our sorrows, the rainbow of promise appears. Author Unknown Too often in the history of religion, people have killed in the name of God of life, waged war in the name of the God of Peace, hated in the name of the God of love, and practiced cruelty in the name of the God of compassion.
