From the Pastor So then the Lord Jesus, after he had spoken to them, was taken up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God. And they went out and proclaimed the good news everywhere, while the Lord worked with them and confirmed the message by the signs that accompanied it (St. Mark 16:19). St. Mark has more than one ending. Different early copies of the gospel have a couple of different endings. The one that is quoted above is from the longer ending of the gospel according to St. Mark it is actually very similar to the endings of the other gospels. At least it is similar in this way: the disciples reaction to the resurrection was to go and tell. Of course, their first reaction was one of disbelief. But as they came to believe and to understand the miracle of the resurrection, they began to tell others of the good news that they had heard from Jesus. It seems that they could do no other. Today, we, too, live in the light of Easter. Perhaps we do not fully understand how God raised Christ from the dead to live again. The how is not necessary. What we know is this- because God raised Christ from the dead, each day we are raised to life once again from the death of our sins. Each day we see life in a whole new fresh way because of the resurrection. And we live with the knowledge that one day we will pass through the gate of death to life with Christ forever. Now, you know that. You live that each day. Do you not know othersfriends, family, neighbors, fellow workers- who need to see life from this whole new perspective? Perhaps, like the early disciples, you have some good news to go out and proclaim. It is as easy as inviting someone to worship with you on Easter. Because of you and your invitation, will someone experience the new life that is God s gift to him or her. Think about it..pray about it. Pastor Bruce~ Happy Easter!
