Myths about the apocalypse, or the end of the world, have been circulating around the world recently. The ancient Maya civilization of Egypt claims that the world will end on December 21, 2012. The Mayans are renowned for their precise calculations. According to the Mayan calendar, December 21 will be the last day of a significant 144,000-day cycle. Given what the Mayans have calculated, does it mean that the end of the world is near? It depends on what you believe in. People who believe in the apocalypse myth think that the Mayan calendar cycle, along with the world, will end on that day. If you believe in science and technology, then don't worry. Numerous scholars have proved that the date of 12.21.2012 is in fact a calculation mistake of the Mayans. Both the U.S. space agency (NASA) and the Vatican have recently reassured the public that the world will not end on this day.
