(Royal Arch Masons only) Los Angeles Assembly No. 42 Social Order of the Beauceant Dear Beauceant Sisters, Summer - July and August - a time of vacation, relaxation, finding ways to keep cool. Our reception in honor of Mrs. Vincent Bell, General Chairman, Knights Templar Eye Foundation, is September 4th. She has worked many hours fulfilling her responsibilities. Anyone who has experienced vision challenges, be they easily solved or very complex, can appreciate the work of the Knights Templar Eye Foundation; and money is needed to fund its research and efforts. The Social Order of the Beauceant supports their endeavors with financial contributions. Enter Mrs. Bell - keeping careful records and being a good steward of the funds. We thank her for her willingness to serve - and serving well. In keeping with the theme of "Celebration", dress in something festive and enjoy a catered lunch. Let's celebrate Mrs. Bell. September 18th will be brown bag lunch. It will be our last meeting before Supreme Assembly. You should receive this newsletter in time to register to attend. The Recorder has information. Supreme Assembly will be September 21-25, 2015 in League City, Texas, in the Houston area. If this would be your first time attending, you will find it informative, fun, enlightening, enjoyable, worth your time, and satisfying. If you have attended before, the benefits will multiply. The School of Instruction will be led by Mrs. William Chant PSWP, Chairman of the Supreme Ritual Committee. Observing the Supreme Officers teaches much. The other events, including meals and tours, offer time to spend with Sisters from all over the country. All good. Los Angeles Assembly No 42 is hosting the Western States Breakfast at Supreme Assembly. Mrs. Bruce Ewald is chairing and organizing the breakfast. She would love to have you present and a part of the event. Tickets are available from her. Enjoy a happy summer, good health and blessings. See you in September. McElwain Signet Chapter No. 57 - Royal Arch Masons Dear Companions and Ladies, It is hard to believe we are already half way through the year! This is the time when we go dark for two months, however, we have no shortage of events taking place. Please join us at our 4-way Reception honoring the Grand Master, Grand High Priest, Illustrious Grand Master, and Right Eminent Grand Commander. I am sure my counterparts in the Council and Commandry will remind you to do the same. The following day is the parade of course as well and following that, we will have our picnic on July 18th. We have another great event coming up! As you may recall, I mentioned in last month's article to stay tuned for a date for our Table Chapter. I have finalized a date and it will be on Fri Oct 23 at 6:30 since we are all accustomed to that time. The guest of honor will appropriately be our very own Most Excellent Companion Steve Goad, Grand High Priest of the Grand Chapter of California! This is open to all Royal Arch Masons. Please assist me in getting the word out to not only Companions of Signet Chapter, but to Companions of other Chapters as well. Dress as you would dress to a Table Lodge (no need for red accessories). The details as far as number of courses and price will be announced shortly once I finalize details with our Chef as well as a vendor for commemorative canon shots for everyone. Stay tuned for more and thank you to Excellent Companion Nick Khatcharian for this idea as well! Sincerely and Fraternally, Ex. Companion Eric Bertolli 2015 High Priest

Deputy Grand Lecturer - Department 4A Raymond Adrian Broomfield (Christine) Omega Council No. 11 - Cryptic Masons Companions and Ladies, As we celebrate our nation's birthday, a certain song/poem comes to mind with sentimental lyrics: America the Beautiful. God has crowned our nation with brotherhood - I like to think that is our Brotherhood. Below is the first verse to America the Beautiful, written by Katherine Lee Bates and composed by Samuel A Ward. Bates originally wrote the words as a poem, "Pikes Peak", first published in the Fourth of July edition of the church periodical The Congregationalist in 1895. At that time, the poem was titled "America" for publication. O beautiful for spacious skies, For amber waves of grain, For purple mountain majesties Above the fruited plain! America! America! God shed his grace on thee And crown thy good with brotherhood From sea to shining sea! "From sea to shining sea," originally used in the charters of some of the English Colonies in North America, is an American idiom meaning from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean (or vice versa). "Purple mountain majesties" refers to the shade of the Pikes Peak in Colorado Springs, Colorado, which Bates looked at while writing the poem. Have a wonderful summer. Grand Officer - Department IV Eduardo Estrada, KYCH Assistant Director of Ritual - Department IV Rick L. Baca Los Angeles Commandery No. 9 - Knights Templar Dear Ladies and Sir Knights, A very happy summer to you all. I hope that you are enjoying the long days, warm evenings and ample opportunities to explore the beauties of our world with your loved ones, friends, and extended Masonic families. We have three wonderful events coming up that are right in line with this theme: our Annual York Rite 4-way Reception, our Annual York Rite Family BBQ, and a visit to themidnight Mission to serve those less fortunate than ourselves. All of these are listed on the calendar in this issue, and it is hoped that you will make every effort to attend. Please be advised that, with the exception of the social activities mentioned above, our York Rite stated meetings are dark for the months of July and August. Please enjoy the time off with those near and dear to you, go enjoy the world, recharge your batteries, and start planning your future activities. The summer is also a great time to work on your ritual and begin studying for new parts in the degrees. And speaking of degrees... Remember that although we are dark for the next couple months, please continue to talk to members of your Blue Lodges, Scottish Rites, Sojourners, Shrines, Grottos, etc about our York Rite bodies, our degrees, and the wonderful added dimension they bring to the Masonic fraternal experience. I promise you, once they get involved, they will thank you for doing so. When he saw the crowds, he went up the mountain, and after he had sat down, his disciples came to him. He began to teach them, saying: The Beatitudes Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are they who mourn, for they will be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the land. Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied. Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. Blessed are the clean of heart, for they will see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are you when they insult you and persecute you and utter every kind of evil against you [falsely] because of me. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward will be great in heaven. Thus they persecuted the prophets who were before you. - Matthew 5:1-12 Yours in Faith, Simon A.
