October Coat Drive for Refugees This month, the Social Ministry Team will be collecting coats for children and adults, plus scarves, hats, gloves and mittens to be distributed to refugees who have recently been resettled in our area by Lutheran Social Services. Please place new or gently used items in the designated bin in the coat room. Let s give these families a warm welcome to our area! Questions? Thrift Shop Monthly LMS Collection NEXT Sunday, October 28 Bring gently used clothing, small household goods, baby items and toys for those in need to be distributed by Lutheran Mission Society at nearby Compassion Centers. Pack fragile items carefully to avoid breakage on the truck. Boxes are best! LMS Collections happen on the 4 th Sunday of every month. Senior Adult Fellowship Genetics, Genomics & DNA Tuesday, November 6, 11:00 am All are welcome to come for a fascinating talk by Dr. Kimberly Jacoby Morris, doctoral fellow at National Institutes of Health. A brief overview of DNA structure and function will be followed by a discussion of how genetics and genomics affect bio-medicine today, including the processes of gene sequencing, cloning and editing. Lunch from Mamma Lucia's will be provided at no charge, courtesy of Above & Beyond donations to Senior Fellowship. To assist with planning, please sign up at the Welcome Center or contact Jeanette Schuder to RSVP by November 4.
