TRINITY PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH Trinity Tidings Page Trinity Tidings APRIL 2017 Happy Easter, Dear Friends! Please join us for these upcoming celebrations and activities. April 9 Palm Sunday - Confirmation Sunday 7pm Musical by Chancel Choir Apr 13 Maundy Thursday 5:30pm Supper/ 6:00pm Communion in the gym Apr 16 Easter Sunday Apr 30 Youth Sunday: Out of Many One the Body of Christ, affirming that which unites us and overcomes that which divides us, May 7 May 14 Ordain/Install Elders May 21 Baccalaureate Sunday Potluck Luncheon to Honor Christian Ed teachers/staff May 28 Presbyterian Women Lifetime Membership Award Memorial Day no Sunday School Legacy Grants: The Session has approved the following grants from our Legacy Endowment Fund: To MANNA FOOD BANK: $100,000.00 as part of their $1.5 million dollar capital campaign to renovate the old Pensacola Mill Supply building at 3030 North E Street as MANNA s new headquarters, services center, warehouse and distribution center. As part of the warehouse/service areas to be named for Trinity s gift we will recognize Frank Johnson, a Trinity member, who was MANNA s first Executive Director. Trinity youth are known for their SOUPER BOWL OF CARING food drive for Manna each February, and our thirty-year partnership with MANNA has benefitted thousands of Escambia County residents. We currently support MANNA at $21,000 annually. To the Presbytery of Florida: $50,000.00 for revitalization efforts. As we discussed the financial crisis and declining support and participation by congregations at our recent District Meetings in February, the Session approved Legacy Fund financial assistance for a grant that, when combined with the additional $24,000 pledged by other congregations and other personal financial gifts forthcoming, will enable us To remain united as the Presbytery of Florida and NOT realign with South Alabama and Flint River Presbyteries. To elect a search committee for a full time Coordinating Presbyter To begin implementing steps to revitalize the spirituality and connectionalism of our congregations To secure the stability of Dogwood Acres. Our Legacy grant funds will be used to develop and implement leadership, educational, stewardship, and programmatic efforts to revitalize the connectionalism between congregations, leaders, Ruling Elders, Teaching Elders, and presbytery staff and teams. These efforts will boost the participation by congregations and officers in the life and workings of the presbytery and increase the financial support of the presbytery. Based on satisfactory reports of efforts and results submitted to the Session each May by presbytery s Budget And Finance Team, Presbytery Leadership Team (PLT), the Dogwood Acres Ministry Team, and other presbytery teams so designated, the Session may renew the grant for twice for a total of three years. Thank you for your love and service to God through Trinity, our Presbytery of Florida, and our community partners! Hugh

Page 2 Trinity Tidings Hey Trinity Family, I just wanted to make sure you guys got this video update. We have finished the Men s Dorm! We have moved in. We are currently fully operating out of our new campus. Thank you guys so much for being such a huge part of this project! Here s the link: https://youtu.be/-4jp2aoyoge -Will Shehee Bravo and thank you to everyone who provided food, helped decorate, set up and clean up for the 2016-17 Legacy concert receptions. You consistently exceed expectations! We appreciate you. Wayne Millet and the Chancel Choir Dear Trinity Members, I want to thank you so much for the prayer cards you have sent me. They encouraged me to think positive and look for a good outcome after my hospital stay. Our God is a good God and listens to his people s prayers. Thank you again. I am much improved. Shirley P. Jacques Dear Mrs. John and the Prayer Group, Your Christmas card to my mother (Martee Atkins) was forwarded to me. I m sorry to tell you that Mother died on October 4th. She has been at a birthday party the Sunday before making donuts. She was fine then, but I went to pick her up for dinner on Wednesday and she was on the floor of her apartment unable to speak. They said it was a brain bleed. She died within the next few days. I appreciate you sending her the card. Trinity meant so much to her. Meg (Atkins) Jones The Service Committee is pleased to report the Session approved a Legacy Grant of $100,000 to the Manna Food Bank Capital Campaign for their new property at 3030 North E. Street, Pensacola. The 2014 flood devastated Manna, destroying all the food and equipment. This new building will let Manna improve access to healthy food for children, families, and seniors in need. Trinity has a 30+ year long relationship with Manna. Please see below ways in which you can become involved in this local mission. Dear Trinity Presbyterian Church, On behalf of the Tuskegee University Golden Voices Concert Choir, we thank you for inviting us to partake with you. Your hospitality is appreciated. We don t take these opportunities that are presented lightly and pray that in due time, we will fellowship once more. May the Lord bless you and keep you. May His countenance shine upon you until we meet again. Tuskegee University Golden Voices Concert Choir

Please stop in and enjoy Billie's wonderful talent. From Billie Bailey I started art classes at Pensacola Junior College 30 years ago. Reality soon set in. Work at the Farmer s Market intruded, BUT my love of creating art remained strong. Having since retired, I have time to devote to painting. Various mediums and styles, including realism, impressionism and abstracts interest me. My joy is to interpret nature in different ways. Join us at Loaves and Fishes Soup Kitchen Sunday, May 7, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. to help serve dinner! We need you! The next date will be Sunday, June 4, 2017.

Page 8 Trinity Tidings Congregational Care Needs Cancer Support Group: The Congregational Care Team would like to know if there is a current interest in having a monthly Cancer Support Group, as we have had in the past. The group would share having meditations, share their joys and concerns, help and support one another, and occasionally have a guest speaker when desired. Would you be interested in participating in a Cancer Support Group once a month? Name: Phone Number: Email: Would you be willing to facilitate this group? Name: Phone Number: Email: Transportation of Church Members Unable to Drive Please check the appropriate question. A. Would you be willing to drive church members to/from church functions? B. Would you be willing to drive church members to/from church functions if they lived close to you? Would you be willing to co-ordinate transportation for church members who are not able to drive? Name: Phone Number: Email: Due to liability and disability issues, we cannot provide transportation to medical appointments as a part of Congregational Care. Since we no longer have the van, the church insurance does not provide liability insurance for transportation. The driver s personal liability insurance would be responsible for any issues that may arise. Helping Hands Coordinator: We have a great group of volunteers who assist members of the congregation with helping hands when needed. What is Helping Hands? Is it time for you to stay off the ladder, and a light bulb or a smoke alarm needs changing? Have you been in the hospital and can t cut the grass yet? Is there a small electrical or plumbing job that you just can t do? Helping Hands church members are offering to come to your rescue with these and other small one time jobs. They just need someone to coordinate the helpers with the need. You don t have to be any stronger than lifting the phone to make the calls or sending out e-mails. Dave Blodgett, as past coordinator, can answer your questions and give you guidance. This ministry team tries to get the job done within a week of the request. I am willing to coordinate this ministry? Name: Phone number: Email: I am willing to coordinate the Helping Hands Ministry along with another person? Name: Phone Number: Email: Please turn this questionnaire into the church office or to Peggy Watson, chair of congregational Care. Thank you!

Page 10 Trinity Tidings Dear Trinity Family We have finally moved into our new campus! We were able to complete the Men's Dorm building, which consists of 28 rooms, all facing into a central courtyard. This will be able to function as our entire campus for the School of Missions and Prayer for several years as we continue to grow. We currently have 19 full-time students, but now that we have room for growth, we hope to see that number significantly increase next year! Etta and I have also built a structure for children's ministry from our own personal finances in loving memory of Lydia Rose Shehee, our daughter who passed away in 2014. We are in the process of building a playground as well. We hope that this will provide a fun and spiritually edifying environment for the children in the surrounding neighborhoods. We are relaunching our children's ministry program from the new campus this Saturday afternoon! We are also preparing to start pouring the slab for the new House of Prayer sanctuary. We have raised enough money to finish the floor and walls. We are currently holding our daily prayer meetings in the Children's banda, which is a little tight, but we are making it work. We plan to have a Grand Opening conference with the whole Tororo community in May. Thanks so much for making all of this possible!!! You have empowered us to make a significant step towards training and sending more native African missionaries! Until every tribe worships the Lamb, Will Shehee
