July 10, 2016 Fifteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time HOLY TRINITY CATHOLIC CHURCH A Stewardship Parish Pastor Father Michel Dalton OFM Cap. Deacon Dan Guinaugh Deacon Steve Kula EMERGENCY NUMBER 779-9594 PARISH OFFICE: 396-0551 Website: holytrinitychurchhi.org MISSION STATEMENT The Mission of Holy Trinity Catholic Church is to be one with Christ the Father and each other and so that the Holy Spirit may make Christ known to the world in us through Word, Sacrament, Prayer and Service. What the Bible says is really true it s better to give than to receive.
H O LY T R I N I T Y C A T H O L I C C H U R H The Body of Christ...is alive and well. After only being here, for one weekend, I can not only feel great energy but can also see it in action. Your kind reception gives me the impression that you are up to the task of being both a welcoming parish and a great community of faith. St. Paul uses the analogy of the body when referring to the body of Christ. He stresses that each part is important and plays a crucial role in keeping the body, or church community, alive and well functioning. As with our own bodies each part, or organ, has to both communicate and cooperate with each other. When this is possible then we "feel good" and it's the same in a parish. Each church community is blessed with so many different people with varied backgrounds and interests...and, therefore, each one of you is very important and special. But, for a healthy parish to function properly we need to be honest and open with one another. I see this as one of my primary roles as your Pastor...to keep you aware of the various aspects of parish life, planned activities, and ways for you to either stay involved or get involved. One way that I can hopefully accomplish this is through the use of our Bulletin. I can share insight and information with you but you have to read what's being sent out. A message or messenger is only effective if it has someone to receive the message. I fully realize that I am not starting anything new (at this point) but perhaps can enhance what has already been happening, try to welcome back those who should be part of our parish, and introduce those who want to grow in their faith to a welcoming parish, a loving God, and a truly healthy body of Christ. A gallant effort has already been begun by trying to put together a Strategic Plan of Action...that you will soon learn more about. From what I've read, from the efforts of our Stewardship Committee, we are trying to prioritize where we want to expend our efforts and resources. In this venture the committee members have looked at where we have come from and where we want to be as a healthy parish community. Besides doing this local planning we also need to be sure that we are on the same page as our Bishop and Diocese (that's all of the other Catholic parishes in Hawai'i). Bishop Larry and his advisors have been seeking input as to what our Diocesan priorities should be and they have crafted a beautiful document entitled : Stewards of the Gospel. I am happy to report that we are all heading in the same direction...good job, Stewardship Committee! In the following months I'll be meeting with the various parish ministries, groups, and as many of you individually, to see how best to accomplish these Gospel-goals. Those of you who are already involved will be asked to continue the good work you have been doing. Those who are not involved will be challenged to get involved. And, those who are not able to get involved will be asked to prayerfully support our efforts. Everyone has a part to play and age is no barrier or excuse...from the youngest to the most Senior...your presence and input is valuable and needed. No one should feel either left out or not important. Pope Francis has been stressing the importance of his shepherds being close to their sheep...that's the type of relationship I want to have with all of you. As your shepherd I want to learn more about you, our parish, and how I can accompany you on the journey of our Catholic-Christian faith. It will take dedication, time, openness, and honesty on all of our parts...including myself. That's the personal goal I've set for myself. Please allow me to lead you in this journey, to grow with you in our faith, and to receive the blessings of a loving and merciful God. We are the church, the body of Christ! We are the people of God! We are blessed in so many ways! Let's celebrate who we are...the parish of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. With the Holy Trinity as our parish patron how can we go wrong? We can't and we won't. God's blessings and mine, Fr. Mike Please feel free to contact me at mdalton@rcchawaii.org

ELECTION Primary Election August 13, 2016 As you know our gym is used for both the Primary and General Election. The Primary is on a Saturday in August and the General is on a Tuesday in November. The Saturday in August tends to be a problem because the election goes until after 6pm and we have a 5pm Mass. This makes a problem for our parking lot. This year the Pastoral Council has decided to put our 5pm Mass on Sunday the 14th of August. So there will be no 5pm Mass on Saturday, August 13, 2016. Fr. STEWARDSHIP CORNER Stewardship at Holy Trinity Church Lesson 5 The Gift of Talent God created each of us with individual talents. Some of us can sing or play an instrument; some of us might be authors or orators; some work with their hands as artists or carpenters; some become religious clergy; but we all have different talents. Whatever talents God has given, there is a need for them at Holy Trinity Church. A Christian Steward will search his soul and consider using his or her god given Talent for the good of our Parish.
