In the next few weeks and months, you ll notice a lot more chances to be involved in mission at Chalice. Yep, we re trying a new thing: a MeetUp group for mission. Now what is that, exactly? MeetUp.com is a website, launched after the 9/11 attacks. The goal was to foster community, whatever sort of community people were looking for. Let s meet up and. There are groups for everything from practicing Wicca to going hiking. So we re going to try a group dedicated to mission. Each MeetUp will be open to Chalice folks, but we re not populating each mission opportunity with Chalice folks. Come as you can, but no pressure to fill ten, or twenty or fifty slots from those who walk through our doors regularly. Instead, we re figuring out how to do the things that Christ calls us to do using the talents and energy of whomever may come our way. To begin with, we ll be mostly doing things that mean hungry people have food. As that group changes, what we do will change with it. The only commitment so far? We ll be working with organizations that serve people (so not the Humane Society, for example) and everyone s welcome. Yep, that even means all and no faith. We ll see what happens. At the very best, because of God at work in Chalice, we ll see the reign of God break more fully into the East Valley. You ll definitely be hearing more about mission opportunities in the next few weeks. Have questions? Talk to Renee Carlini or me; we re the ring leaders of the MeetUp initiative right now! peace, abigail The Oasis Coffee House is open every Thursday evening from 7-10pm. There is wifi, coffee drinks, and conversation. Bring yourself. Bring your friends. Start your weekend early at the Oasis!
Remember the words of Isaiah about God s action in the world: Behold! I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth do you not perceive it? God is calling Chalice to several new things and places. This week, hold this ministry in your prayers and name your own dreams for the beautiful things that will come from it! Craft Fair Each fall, we have a craft fair. This year, it s scheduled for Saturday, November 2. Vendors from the community set up a booth to sell their wares; people from the community come and shop. It s one of the times outside worship when we open ourselves and our space to the community. God in your mercy Saturday, November 2nd from 8a-3p The Third Annual Fall Craft Fair will be on Saturday, November 2nd from 8a-3p. We need volunteers to help with organizing spaces and welcoming the day of the event. If you know of someone who would like to sell their crafts, have them go to our website on the community page and fill in the form. hear our prayers Kristin, Rob Akins cousin, and her 20 day old baby, Zachary Send prayers to
