Changing The World Two-By-Two Mission Challenge Thank you for the many ways you supported the mission projects in 2018. The total mission giving was over $15,000 and Hope UMC is again a Rainbow Covenant Church. At the last missions meeting the mission committee selected Heifer International as the 2019 mission emphasis. Then at the Thanksgiving Ingathering, Hope UMC and 5 other churches in northwest Iowa accepted the challenge to Fill the Ark for the 2019 Thanksgiving Ingathering. This is a $5000 gift that provides pairs of a menagerie of animals. What can one good dairy cow do? It can produce up to four gallons of milk a day enough for a family to drink, share with neighbors, and still have enough left over to sell. Protein-rich milk can transform malnourished children into healthy boys and girls. The sale of surplus milk provides income for school fees and medicine. And because a cow can produce a calf every year, the gift will be passed on and eventually help an entire community move from poverty to self-reliance. Next month read about more animals that change the lives of families in need around the world. FREE SATURDAY SUPPER Saturday ~ January 19, 2019 Serving from 5-6:30 p.m. Pocahontas Center There will be many opportunities to help prepare, serve and clean-up.
January Notes Cast all your anxiety on him, because he cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7 The UMW had a very busy ending to 2018! The nut sale has been very successful and most of the items are gone. We still have pecan halves and English walnuts for anyone wanting to purchase now and freeze for use later. They are in the church office. Thank you for your support. We will do this again next October. Once again the Vespers service was memorable. The committees did an outstanding job presenting a program to help us prepare our hearts for Advent and preparing and serving a wonderful meal with lovely table decorations. It was a special evening. Charity Circle prepared and delivered cookie plates. The UMW selected Ann Harrison as the recipient of the 2018 Special Mission Recognition pin. Each year someone is recognized for their mission work in the church and the community. Ann has assumed the responsibility of being the person who works with Mobile Food Pantry of Iowa to make all the arrangements for the Pocahontas County site. She is also part of the committee planning and serving the Saturday Night Suppers. Congratulations, Ann!
