The twenty-fifth Sunday After Pentecost Holy Eucharist November 11, 2018 8 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. Our Mission: We are called to be disciples of Christ, revealing His Life, Love and Light to the World. Our Vision: St. Bartholomew s Episcopal Church is a radically welcoming, inclusive faith family sharing and teaching the love of Jesus Christ through our worship, actions and outreach: transforming ourselves and the world.

Welcome! Your presence with us is a perfect gift from God. Thank you for being here! St. Bart s is much more than a worship community. We are people of all ages sharing in ministry and fellowship discovering the joy in serving Christ in others, every day of the week. We seek to transform the world with the Good News of Jesus Christ. We hope and pray that you are fed today and tomorrow. If today is your first visit, we pray that you are fed personally and spiritually here in Word and Sacrament. Please introduce yourself at the Welcome banner on the patio and say hello to one of the clergy. After receiving communion you are invited to bring your prayer needs to an Order of St. Luke s member. They can be identified by their blue stoles. Personal PAs (hearing assistance) are available in the narthex. Please wear your name tag. (Order forms are in the narthex). Deacon At the conclusion of the reading the people respond The Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you, Lord Christ. Sermon The Nicene Creed Please stand as able. The Reverend Mark McKone-Sweet We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father. Through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary, and was made man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son. With the Father and the Son he is worshiped and glorified. He has spoken through the Prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen. Prayers of the Leader Blessing of Quilts Confession of Sin Deacon Lord, in your mercy, Hear our prayer. Let us confess our sins against God and our neighbor. Most merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done, and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. We are truly sorry and we humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on us and forgive us; that we may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name. Amen. 6

Presider The Peace Presider Almighty God, have mercy on you, forgive you all your sins through our Lord Jesus Christ, strengthen you in all goodness, and by the power of the Holy Spirit keep you in eternal life. Amen. The peace of Christ be with you always. And also with you. After sharing the peace of the risen Christ with one another, please be seated. Offertory Sentence and Music 10:15 a.m. Offertory Anthem Anthem: O Lord, Increase My Faith, Orlando Gibbons (1583-1625) O Lord, increase my faith, strengthen me and confirm me in thy true faith; Endue me with wisdom, charity, and patience in all my adversity. Sweet Jesus, say Amen. Doxology (sung by all) Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; Praise him, all creatures here below; Praise him above, you heavenly host; Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Amen. Please stand as able as our offerings are brought forth. Old Hundredth The Great Thanksgiving (Expansive Eucharistic Prayer B) God be with you. And also with you. Lift up your hearts. We lift them to the Lord. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right to give our thanks and praise. It is right, and a good and joyful thing, always and everywhere to give thanks to you, Almighty God, Creator of heaven and earth, Therefore we praise you, joining our voices with Angels and Archangels and with all the company of heaven, who for ever sing this hymn to proclaim the glory of your name: 7

Sanctus We give thanks to you, O God, Therefore, according to his command, O Father, We remember Christ s death, We proclaim Christ s resurrection, We await Christ s coming in glory; And we offer our sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving to you, O Savior of all;... By Christ and with Christ and in Christ, in the unity of the Holy Spirit all honor and glory is yours, Almighty God, now and for ever. AMEN. And now, as our Savior Christ has taught us, we are bold to say, 8 a.m. Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen. 8

Amen. Washington s Prayer For The Nation Please stand as able. Almighty God, we make our earnest prayer that Thou wilt keep the United States in thy holy protection, that Thou wilt incline the hearts of the citizens to cultivate a spirit of subordination and obedience to government, and entertain a brotherly affection and love for one another and for their fellow citizens of the United States at large. And finally that Thou wilt most graciously be pleased to dispose us all to do justice, to love mercy, and to demean ourselves with that charity, humility and pacific temper of mind which were the characteristics of the Divine Author of our blessed religion, and without a humble imitation of whose example in these things, we can never hope to be a happy nation. Grant our supplications, we beseech thee, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
