Questions, see Wanda Parker. New Covenant United Methodist Church Corner Pastor s Thoughts of the Pastor May is upon us. More than likely, you will read this in the latter days of April or early May. May will bring a first at New Covenant Church, and that is our first ever preschool graduation. Some of you will be experiencing a college graduation of someone in your family in May, and others of you are anticipating a high school graduation in June. I find myself thinking of a graduation in these days. My high school graduation, that is. This year is the 40 th anniversary of my high school graduation. I look forward to September 10 when the Williams High School Class of 1971 will be together once again. I am already preparing for the fact that all of us will look a good bit different than we did 40 years ago. Most of the females will not have long hair as many of the girls had in 1971, and I suspect that some of the guys (including myself) will come with less hair and more girth around the middle than they had on graduation day. Many will say that we are old. I hope that I am not only older than I was 40 years ago, but I also hope that I am more mature in my faith. Ephesians 4:12-14 puts it this way, 12 to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up 13 until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. 14 Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful selves. While Jesus says that even a little faith is enough to move mountains, he desires for us to have a living, growing, mature faith. You will find throughout this newsletter numerous opportunities of service and study for you to grow in faith. I commend them to you. You see, if our faith is not living and growing like the flowers and vegetables plants we plant this time of year, our faith is dying. Pastor Randy Wall

The Youth have many exciting things going on in the coming months. In May, we will begin bringing in our new youth that will be going into the 6th grade and dividing our youth into Senior High and Junior High groups for lessons and community building games. Also in May, the Special Mission Offering will be for Youth Missions. The large mission project for the youth is working a week with CCC, Carolina Cross Connection. There we will work helping many different families doing many different jobs, such as repairing or building porches, steps, wheelchair ramps, floor repair, painting, yard work and even house cleaning. Along with serving others, we have fellowship with Christian youth from around the US. In the evening each day, there are activities where the youth can learn more about Christ and grow closer to Him. We are very excited about this trip which begins July 17th. Preschool Sunday, May 1st Please help us welcome our preschool families on our first Preschool Sunday! Our preschool families will be joining us for worship and a FUND- RAISER LUNCH next Sunday, May 1st. We will have a cookout with hamburgers and hot dogs; we would appreciate donations of slaw, chili, baked beans and desserts. There is a sign up sheet in the narthex. If you have any questions, please see Angie Bass or Amy Overbay. Please support our preschool by joining us! In other youth news, we had a wonderful Lock Inn and Purity Lesson on April 1st. The youth and the church will recognize our Seniors during services on June 5th. We will have a day of fun and concerts at Carowinds on June 18th. And coming on July 10th is Youth Sunday where the youth will provide the service this day, providing singing, dancing, drama, prayer and preaching. We are very excited about these and many other things going on in the youth ministry. I encourage all church groups to reach out to our wonderful, talented youth for help or assistance. I have learned since coming to New Covenant they have many talents; art, singing, playing instruments, dancing and acting. They are always eager to help, you can contact me or just ask one of them. Thank you for your prayers and in advance for your giving to Youth Missions. Love In Christ, Bring a Friend Sunday On Sunday, May 22nd, we will be having Bring a Friend Sunday at both worship services. Everyone is asked to bring a friend with them to church that day. In lieu of Adult Sunday School on the 22nd, we will be having Sunday School fellowship time in the Family Life Center. Refreshments will be provided. Please join us and bring a friend! Todd
