Then the eyes of both of them were opened. (Verse 7) This does not mean that they had been going around with their eyes shut! God explains in verse how they can now see something which they could not see before. In verse, what does God say they now know? How did Adam and Eve react when their eyes were opened? (Verse 7) What did they do when they heard the sound of the Lord God as He walked in the garden? What was the first question God asked Adam? God did not ask the question because He did not know the answer. God wanted them to own up to what they had done. However, they only half owned up because neither of them wanted to take responsibility for what they had done. Whom did Adam blame? Whom did Eve blame? Sometimes we are a bit like Adam and Eve, trying to shift the blame for our sins on to someone else. They could not fool God! He pronounced judgment on both Adam and Eve, and also on the serpent because of what they had done.

What is eternal life described as being? Who is the only Person through whom we can have eternal life? These studies show that we have all sinned like Adam and Eve. They had to take their own punishment. The Lord Jesus died on the cross to take our punishment. Now we have to accept Him as our Saviour, to be forgiven!
