February 2013 T he Chronicle 1 June 2018 Who We Are Our Mission Connecting people to Christ Equipping them for life! Our Affiliation Crosspoint is part of Converge PacWest, the Northwest District of Converge Worldwide. Converge s focus is to Connect, Ignite, and Transform: Connecting God s people around God s purposes, that He might ignite movements of reproduction for the purpose of transforming lives and communities with Christ s love and truth. Eight months have passed since the night that changed the life and spirit of our county. Where do we find ourselves now? It would have been nearly impossible to have anticipated what an impact these fires would have on our community. It s been eight months, but everyone seems to have settled into different stages of the process. For some, life has completely shattered and every day is a struggle. For some, life has hit a routine and a new normal is beginning to be established. For some, life wasn t affected much and it feels very much like it did a year ago. But there s still that nagging in the back of the mind, even for those who weren t impacted much driving by a fire-ravished place, talking with someone deeply affected our lives are all changed as a result of that week. And here comes the hope! From Pastor Mike God is at work through His church! One practical way is obviously the shed build on June 9th (appropriately named Hope City ) what an awesome opportunity for the church to come alongside folks in need in our community and practically share God s love and hope with them! Here s my challenge to you: what ELSE are you doing to bring hope to our city? The shed build is a fantastic place to start, but that can t be all. And we can t wait for others to make it easy for us. How are you being a light for the Savior in our city today? This week? What practical ways is His hope being transmitted through you? We have the opportunity. Now is the time for action! 1
2 Family Ministry Thoughts for summer. What a great time of year! Long days, warm nights, no school these are the days that we live for! I was blessed to have a father in education, so we would spend much of the summer days camping or fishing along the southern California coast or mountains. Many of my childhood memories come from these adventures. There was always something special about fishing with dad at Malibu State Beach as the sun went down at 8:30pm. I am a huge proponent of the outdoors and would love to encourage you and your family to make the most of this summer! Living in the North Bay may be expensive, but there is a reason for the cost. The proximity to the ocean, camping, hiking, fishing, and many more activities is absolutely incredible! I would love this to be a summer where our church can worship God by engaging his creation. Please let me encourage you, find a way to be outside and marvel at the magnificence of God and his creation. God could have created the entire world to look like Death Valley, but instead he gave us rich beauty. I ll end with a challenge A professor of mine at Dallas Theological Seminary told me about a story about a game that went on for over 40 years. A man and his wife developed a game, where they would try to stump each other in seeing Gods glory. The man would point to a line of ants marching and ask his wife What does that tell you about God! She would think for a few minutes, then respond These ants are tenacious in their finding of food God is tenacious in His love for us! And so on and so forth For years they would see if they could finally win the game, but over and over they were able to see how God s attributes can be seen in all of his creation. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. John Behle, Interim Director of Student and Children Ministries -Romans 1:20 Children s Ministry Volunteers Every three months, Erin Patterson and I make up pretty complicated schedules for the children's ministry volunteers. And every month we have the opportunity to submit an article to this newsletter, but there never seems to be anything unusual to write about. I just realized that our big story is the 40 volunteers who work with our children every single Sunday of the year, without fail. Today's Press Democrat headlined a young man who did a really heroic deed the night of the fires. I believe those people on our children's ministry team are heroic in their ongoing dedication to teach and care for our children. THANK YOU!
