New Hope News April 1, 2017 New Hope New Vision New Spirit As we prepare for the season before us Rev. Chambers will be offering the annual spring Pastor s Class. The dates are April 8th and April 15th at 9:30AM. The Classes are designed to reflect the heritage of the Christian Faith, the Doctrines of Confession, Baptism, and Communion, and what it means to become a members of the Body of Christ. For those individuals interested in participation in the Pastor s Class, please call the church office to reserve your place in the class. 405-691-5366 or email Rev. Chambers, newhopeminister@att.net Members and friends of New Hope Christian Church will want to be present for the heart stirring presentation of Come to the Cross and Remember. Under the direction of Marietta Combs and accompanied by Brad Davidson, the cantata seeks to utilize a wide range of musical talent from within our congregation both vocally and instrumentally. This will be a wonderful opportunity to extend an invitation to a friend, a relative or a co-worker to come and experience this unique presentation of the gospel message. April 13th is a date that you will want to place on your personal calendar. Our thoughts for Maundy Thursday will center on the symbolic actions of Jesus as he met the disciples in the Upper Room. We will explore the implications and meaning of the Seder Meal, an event that took place during the Passover. While this is a symbolic meal it will help us all understand what Jesus did and said to the disciples in the waning hours before his arrest, trial, and crucifixion. In order to adequately prepare we request that you indicate your plans to attend by signing the attendance registry or by calling the church office at 405.691.5366. The gathering will take place in fellowship hall at 6:30 PM. The quiet moments in the garden, the clamoring crowd that came to arrest Jesus, the mock trial, the flogging and insulting of Jesus, the sound of the hammer against the spike...good Friday. Why do we call it Good when such horrific events took place. Think on these things! The doors of New Hope Christian Church will be open from 6:30 PM to 7:15 PM for those who desire to come quietly into the Sanctuary for a time of meditation and personal prayer. Communion will be available for those who would desire to partake. You may choose to come and go at a time that works for you and your family. Let the Spirit be your guide.
