Wave Of Prayer March 6th at Rail Road Park at 2pm.

On any given Sunday, in any given church, you can ask, Do you believe in prayer? and you will get a unanimous response. Even if the church is politically divided or facing a potential church-split, virtually every one would agree that prayer is important. So why don t we pray then? One recent survey revealed that the average Christian prays approximately 5 minutes a week. A week? you say? Yes, a week. I recently read that prayer is the most often talked about and least often practiced discipline of the Christian faith. One pastor reported that he preached on prayer every Sunday for one entire year, but after 52 messages on prayer he observed that the prayer level in the church did not appear to increase at all. But later he started calling people to join him in specific gatherings in which he would show his people how to pray by praying with them and that approach dramatically increased the prayer level in the church. I don t think I need to read another book or attend another conference on prayer (not that there is anything wrong with doing so). For the past two years, I have been learning how to pray by simply praying. I cried out to the Lord and said, Lord, teach me how to pray and I have been his student of prayer ever since. I personally believe that the best way to change the praying climate of the church is to lead the men of the church to be more disciplined in prayer. Therefore, I am asking all of the men of the Calvary family to join me on Sunday nights in March (4 weeks) at 5:30. With God s Word as our textbook and God s Spirit as our teacher, we will discuss the following: Seeking His face, not just His hands (March 4) Praying with Scripture (March 11) Praying with your spouse/family (March 18) Praying and fasting (March 25) I am praying that the Lord will ignite a fresh passion and increase the prayer involvement of our church family through the men. It s time we pray like we believe in prayer! Praying for an awakening, Pastor Bill All true prayer Exists for the glory of God And is Based in the worship of God Focused on the face of God Shaped by the Word of God Inspired by the Spirit of God Offered through the Son of God Aimed for the Will of God Experienced by true children of God Daniel Henderson Volume 143 Issue 3 Page 2

Voices to Lead Worship On March 4 th the Voices of Louisiana College will present an inspiring musical in the 10:30am service. This presentation was also done at the 2011 Louisiana Baptist Evangelism Conference specifically in line with the state-wide Awaken emphasis. We will only have one worship hour, 10:30, and one Bible Study hour at 9:00 am. Voices of LC The Voices of LC is an 11 member ensemble that serves as a Public Relations group for Louisiana College as well as a worship team for Chapel Services and other events at the college. Organized in the Fall of 2007, originally to sing one song for a banquet, the group has travelled extensively in Louisiana and such states as Kentucky, Tennessee, Indiana, Mississippi and Florida. Voices is entering a joint venture with the Louisiana Baptist Convention to create a project that calls our state to spiritual revival. They will record their first cd in December of 2011. In the Summer of 2008, the group was privileged to sing at the Southern Baptist Convention in Indianapolis. The group is made up of a very diverse group of Majors including, Music, Education, Social Work, Business and History. Dr. Fred Guilbert is the director of the group. Dr. Guilbert is a graduate of LC and comes from a 40 year ministry in Church Music. Mary Evelyn Dirks is the Assistant Director and is also an admission Counselor for Louisiana College. Present members are Kirk Talley, Andy Jordan, Camille Perkins, Franki Tackett, Kaylee Christian, Emily Free, Kellie Fuselier, Mary Evelyn Dirks, Adam Vige and Matthew Powell. Kyle Johnson serves as the Sound Engineer for the group. Powerful Resurrection Service Easter Celebration Our worship choir is working together with the praise team to present an awesome time of praise and worship on Resurrection Sunday (Easter).
