BASANT WEEK CELEBRATION (21-29 Jan 2012) MAHARAJA AGRASEN TECHNICAL EDUCATION SOCIETY The festival of Basant Panchami is celebrated on fifth day of Shukla Paksha of Magh month. On this day Lord Vishnu, God Krishna-Radha and Goddess of education Mother Saraswati is worshiped with yellow flowers, Gulaal, water offerings, incense, lamp etc. As per the tradition, yellow and sweet rice and yellow colored Halwa is offered to God in the pooja and then eaten as Prasadam. The day of Basant Panchami is considered to be the beginning of life. This day is the day of arrival of happiness. Spring season is the season of rebirth and bloom. In this season, fields of yellow mustard, charm each and every heart. Wheat crop starts swinging like gold. Colorful flowers starts blossoming. The day of Basant Panchami is celebrated as the welcoming of colors and happiness. To celebrate the start of this colorful season with joy and fervor Maharaja Agrasen Technical Education Society has been celebrating the Basant Week. The Basant Week at the institute is an amalgam of various academic, cultural and sports activities. This week the celebrations were spread from 21 st January 2012 to 29 th January 2012. Day 1 Swami Vivekananda Birth Anniversary On 21 st January the Birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda was celebrated. The event was graced by many dignitaries and the students of various schools performed to make it colorful and joy rendering. The Chief Guest Sri Narendra Kohli gave a lucid lecture on the life and contribution of Swami Vivekananda. Furthermore, he went on to explain the significance of Swami Vivekananda's speech at the Chicago World Parliament of Religions as the "stuff of legend". He quoted "Swamiji also stood for universal religion. He did not see any conflict in religion," he said, adding education for Swamiji was the vehicle by which character was formed, strength of mind expanded and self reliance imparted. He was mesmerized with the performances and praised the students for the same. All in the entire entire programme was a mix of culture and knowledge.

Day 2 Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Birth Anniversary On 23 rd January Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose s 115 th birth anniversary was celebrated. Undoubtedly Netaji is one of the most prominent leaders of Indian independence movement and is a legendary figure in the Indian history. No other person better than Baba Mourya could have depicted the meaning of love for one s beloved nation. With his melodious and beautiful rendition of poems, songs funny jokes and above all with the magic of his hands through which he painted large and magnificent portraits of many freedom fighters he kept the audience spellbound with his charm. It was a day of achievement for Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Management Studies because the much awaited Shadi Lal Minda Radio Lab and Audio Visual Lab of the Journalism Department which are equipped with the latest equipments were inaugurated by Sh. Nirmal Minda. He extended his blessings to the students and teachers and requested them to work diligently and utilize the labs to their fullest capacity for self and institution development.

Day 3 & 4 SPORTS DAY- SPORTZ (24, 25 Jan 2012) At the institute we believe in the philosophy that students should not only be good in their academics but also they should be active in sports. These extracurricular activities keep them vigorous and full of energy because in order to be the best, one has to be best in every aspect. In the line of various activities the annual sports meet SPORTZ was organized on 24 th January and 25 th January 2012. With the aforesaid spirit of holistic development of students Sports Meet was organized from 24 th to 25 th January to relax the mind of students. This sports meet was full of exuberance and enjoyment. More than 1000 students were part of this meet. Sports events like Badminton, 100 meter race, and pool were held. Students' spirit towards this Sports Meet was unbelievable. Students enjoyed the meet with competitive attitude and sportsmanship spirit. Winners and runner-ups were awarded with trophies and certificates by Sh. D.S. Negi, CEO Rajiv Gandhi Hospital. Republic Day Celebrations were also commemorated with the unfurling of National Flag and singing of Vande Mataram by one and all. The birthday od our dear and respected Chairman Dr. Nand Kishore Garg falls on 26 th January, it was also celebrated at MAIMS by presenting him with a website in his order. It was a nostalgic moment when the website was launched.

Day 5- ANNUAL DAY 27 th January 2012. 27 th January 2012 was undoubtedly a special day because it was the annual day of the College. Everyone was enthusiastic and high on energy because it was a day when the achievements of meritorious shall be rewarded. Shri Balram Garg graced the occasion with their benign presence. Both the revered directors read their annual report and highlighted the developments and achievements of their respective institutes namely Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Management Studies and Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Technology. The event rose to a higher platform when the Chief Speaker Ram Jethmalani, Ex Law Minister mesmerized the audience with his emphatic and intelligent speech. It was a moment to be captured when audience were glued to their seats for listening a single word from this old gentleman. The programme was followed by entertaining cultural performances from Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Management Studies and Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Technology.

Day 5- FAMILY DAY (29 th January 2012) It was a beautiful sunny day and was apt for the celebration of Family Day at Balaji Nirog Dham, Bakhthawarpur. With natural and open surroundings and the sky painted bright blue and the shiny green grass glistening in the sun, the chirpy sound of children and families enlightened the day. On this beautiful day the families of the trustees and the faculty members got together for an informal meet. The day was further brightened by the fluttering laughter of everyone in the Hasya Yoga Programme and other entertaining activities like Musical Chair for children, Lucky draw activity. The families got a chance to meet and mingle with each other. The activity was followed by a natural and organic sumptuous lunch. The celebrations came to an end on 29 th January 2012. The week of activities was a welcome break to the MATES Fraternity. We bid good bye to these events to welcome them once again next year with more joy, fervor and enthusiasm.
