They have two daughters, Audra and Jori, who attend Crown Point Christian School. Pastor Joel has a much-needed break today. These groups meet 6-8 times. This is THE TIME for all Pathway adults to huddle up for small group discussions and emerging friendships. Michele and I have grown to know many adults deeply simply by joining a new group every year for these spiritual campaign spurts! Join a group! Grow deeper in your faith. Start and deepen friendships. Ask your spiritual questions in a non-judgmental, relational environment. No Bible knowledge required. Are you in? Sincerely, Pastor Joel Pastor Joel s been blogging again. Check out the latest entry at Joel's Tidbits. Transformed: Small Group Sign Ups Small groups are 6-12 adults who meet for friendship and discussion of the week s teaching theme. No prior Bible knowledge is necessary. We have groups meeting in St. John, Munster, Dyer, and Cedar Lake. Sign up TODAY. Your leader will bring your materials to your first group session and will contact you with directions to the meeting. Groups are offered on Sunday afternoons and evenings. January 24, 2016 - Outline Message: Called to Obedience Scripture: Numbers 20: 1-13 Pastor Lance Davids Moses Obedience Introduction: Trust shows. Israel is nearing the end of its 40 year. (Verse 1) They blame Moses for their. (Verse 2) The people complain for the things they could have had if they had only. (Verses 3-5) Moses and Aaron pray and God tells them to speak to the. (Verses 6-8) Moses reacts out of frustration, and he the rock twice. God s grace is shown here even in Moses disobedience. (Verses 9-11) Moses is. We forget that sin is a big deal and that grace doesn t make sin safe. (Verse 12) We see a small taste of the here. We see God s judgment and His mercy. (Verse 13) Takeaway Points: 1. Don t around with sin. 2. Our sin has, but thanks to the cross, there is redemption. - Moses is at the transfiguration. Please be in prayer for Toni, sister-in-law of John and Jan Horner. Toni suffered a heart attack last week. Life support was removed Thursday, and she is currently in hospice. Please remember Toni and her family in your prayers during this difficult time. Continue to pray for Mike Bultema as he suffers with Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD). Pray for healing or that a kidney becomes available for transplant. Also, pray for Mike, Caroline, Gracie, and Rachel that they may experience the peace of Christ and a confidence in being His children. Continue to pray for Ken Thompson, from World Mission, during his trek journey across the country. Pray for safety and awareness for spreading the good news to all around the world. To keep up on news about Ken s journey, like his facebook page: trekking for treasures or www.trekking4treasures.com. He has shared some nice stories while on this journey so far. Remember those in our congregation who are currently unemployed or underemployed. Pray that they will be able to find meaningful work. News and Notes Church Signs: We are reaching that time of year that frost will prevent us from putting up and taking down our Meet Me at Pathway signs. If you can t get it done right now, that s okay. We ll call off the sign policeman for awhile. (Some of you, including me, have received texts reminding us that our signs weren t out!) However, hold onto your signs for spring!!! Please do not throw them away. We ll hit it hard again when the frost is out of the ground. Building Committee Update: After researching several design/build firms, the Team will meet this month to narrow the choices and choose who Pathway will partner with for building our permanent home. Please be in prayer for this process so that the best choice is made in keeping with God's plan for His church. Also, the planned Walk the Property" has been postponed indefinitely due to weather conditions. We're going to try and do it as soon as it is feasible. 3. It is not Moses or our story. It is story.

Family Night: Wondering what a Wild Game Dinner Potluck is like? Check out show time by Coyote Chris of Silly Safaris. Also, check out Pathway fishing and hunting 2015 pictures, as well as some of our friends trophies from the 2015 season. Pictures are on the web: pathwaycrc.org under Photo Gallery which is located under the Media Section. Family Night Cooks Needed: We need cooks for our next three Family Nights. The menus will be simple and kid-friendly. Can YOU cook it up and serve it hot? February 10: Pinewood Derby Race Night March 9: Blue and Pink: March Madness Basketball Fun Adults: Practical: John DeYoung from the St. John Long-Range Planning Team will present information on St. John Trends and Plans AND Don Schepel will give a presentation on The Gideons Theological: Pre, Post, and A Millennial Christ s Second Coming and Various Denominational Views April 13: TBD The Junior High Youth Group Mall Scavenger Hunt will be Saturday, January 30, 4:00 pm. at Southlake Mall in Merrillville. We will divide the kids up into separate groups to compete and are looking for some parent chaperones to lag behind. We will meet at the mall, have our scavenger hunt, and go out for dinner afterward. (Place yet to be determined.) We are probably looking at picking the kids up from whatever restaurant we're at, somewhere around 7:00 pm. If you haven t already done so, please let Karen Sherwood know if your child is going and whether or not you (moms and/or dads) are willing to help chaperone ASAP. You can text her at (773) 443-5347 or email her at karensherwood9@yahoo.com. The Junior High Youth Group will likely NOT be meeting February 14 or March 13 due to the small group series that most people will be involved in. Another time to get together in March will be planned to replace that month s missed meeting. If you have any questions, call or text Karen Sherwood at (773) 443 5347. Mommy's Haven Opportunity: Due to the growth and progress of Mommy s Haven, we are in need of more help. For this reason, we are holding a call out meeting for all volunteers/potential volunteers who would like to get involved with Mommy's Haven in any capacity and/or time commitment. The meeting will give details about different committees and ways to get involved, including a time for Q & A. It will be held THIS Saturday, January 30 from 11:00 am. - 1:00 pm. at CrossPoint Church, 105 North Court Street, Crown Point, Indiana (located inside of the gym, north of the Crown Theater on the Square). We will have snacks and refreshments available at the meeting. Please let Terri Schaaf know if you'd like to attend. Mommy s Haven Update: Last week, Mommy s Haven had a meeting with the Lowell Zoning Board about their plans for their newly acquired property. The Board needed more information so they were not able to approve the request at the meeting. Mommy s Haven has provided all the requested documentation and hopes to get approval at the next Board meeting on February 11. Please continue to keep Mommy's Haven's efforts in your prayers. The Women's Wednesday Evening Bible Study will meet Wednesday, February 3, at 7:00 pm. at Lin Dykstra s home, 11973 West 107th Place, St. John, Indiana. We will study Lesson 2, Repenting of Our Sins, from our new book, The Beatitudes: Developing Spiritual Character, by John Stott. The Beatitudes reveal to us eight qualities that bring God's blessing: meekness and mercy, poorness in spirit and purity of heart, mourning and hunger, peacemaking and persecution. Jesus highlighted these to offer both encouragement and instruction on living distinctly as His followers in a world with values much different from God's. Our goal is to study these qualities and integrate them into our lives. We welcome new members. Call Donna Terpstra-Verduin for more information, 219-308-7207. The Women s Friday Morning Bible Study will meet Friday, February 5, from 9:15 am. - 11:15 am. We are studying Beth Moore's, Children of the Day, which is a study of I and II Thessalonians. Childcare is provided. Please contact (call or text) Sandy Vree at (708) 204-5119 if you have any questions or would like to attend.
