The Christmas Story (KJV) Luke 2 1 And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be taxed. 2 (And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.) 3 And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city. 4 And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:) 5 To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child. 6 And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered. 7 And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn. 8 And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. 9 And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. 10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. 11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. 12 And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. 13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, 14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men. # # # # # # # It is interesting to note that in Matthew 2:11 as it describes the visit of the wise men it states:...and when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him..." The statement of coming into a house instead of a stable (or cave) and seeing a "young child," not a newborn, leads one to think that the wise men didn't arrive until quite some time after Jesus' birth. Considering the distance they must have traveled and the methods of travel available to them at the time, it is a logical assumption that they did not arrive in time to visit the newborn Jesus at his birthplace. **************** Perhaps the best known of all of Santa s reindeer is Rudolph - the red nosed reindeer. Rudolph was the creation of Robert May, an advertising writer for the Montgomery Ward department store in Chicago. May, who was very imaginative, wanted to create a booklet to give to parents who shopped at Montgomery Ward and with the help of Denver Gillen, a friend who had artistic skills, they created a booklet about Rudolph the red nosed reindeer. The story of how Rudolph lit the way through the fog to help Santa Claus deliver his toys was distributed for several years, with millions of booklets distributed at Montgomery Wards stores over the years. In 1947 the story of Rudolph the red nosed reindeer was put to music by a friend of Robert Mays by the name of Johnny Marks. It was recorded and sung by Gene Autry a famous TV star and sold millions of copies of the song.

A word from the President Christmas will soon be upon us. I love this time of the year. I love the decorations, the music, the parties and times of fellowship, and the time we get to spend with our families and loved ones. However, as great as all that is we have to remember that none of that is the true celebration of Christmas. Jesus birth is the reason we celebrate the season. As you celebrate with your family I want to encourage you to make sure that they truly understand the Real Reason for Christmas, It s All About JESUS!!! I have, on several occasions, encouraged you to wear your colors because we never know when God has something great planned for us. I was reminded of that last week as we were returning from a parade. Some of our chapter members went to Jonesville to ride in their Christmas parade. After the parade we rode back to Jena where some of us stopped at McDonald s for supper. As we sat down and began to eat a lady came in with two children. The oldest was about 8 and the younger was about 4. They came in all excited and were talking about just returning from a birthday party. The younger child came over to our table and was looking at my colors on the back of my vest. He began to describe it saying that it had a Bible on it and that the hands meant that we were giving thanks. They got their food and began to eat. As we finished up I walked over to say good bye to the little fellow when he said he wanted to quote me some scripture. He quoted a couple and then the older brother wanted to quote some also. We stood there in amazement as they quoted from the Bible. Often we expect God to use us to share His word with others through the wearing of our Colors. That night God used my Colors to open the door for us to encourage two little boys that their learning of the scriptures was important and that they should continue memorizing and quoting to people they meet. We were so blessed and all because we wore our Colors. As I share this with you I am reminded of the words in Psalm 119:11 I have hidden Your word in my heart that I might not sin against You. I want to encourage you once again to wear your Colors, you never know what God is going to do because you are obedient. January will be here before we know it. Along with the New Year brings new leadership in our chapter. I want to encourage you to be in prayer for the leaders and our chapter that God will receive all the Glory and that He will guide us as we seek to serve. It s All About JESUS! David Smith, President # # # # # # # Chaplain s Corner Who Shall Be Able To Stand In the Book of Revelations, Chapter 6:17 John tells that the great day of the Lord's wrath is come; and asks the question who shall be able to stand? Rev.6:12 states I looked when He opened the sixth seal, and behold there was a great earthquake;and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became like blood. In Joel 2:31 Joel speaks of the same event: Joel 2:31-32 states The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and terrible day of the Lord come. And it shall come to pass that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be delivered; For in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the Lord hath said, and in the remnant, whom the Lord shall call. Both Joel and John were told of an event that will come without fail; the day of the Lord, but Joel speaks of the ones who will be delivered, those who call on the name of the Lord, and we know His name is Jesus according to Matthew 1:21: And she will bring forth a Son and you shall call His name JESUS, for He will save His people from their

sins." Lets call on His name together and bind together in Worship and praise to The KIng of Kings and Lord of lords. God bless you all thru these Holiday Seasons. Merry Christmas.
