Glenwood Leadership for 2015 Our purpose is to make disciples of Jesus Christ through: Outreach, Worship, Study, Relationships and Service. Charge Conference 11/16/14 I. Church Council Duties: (membership: Para. 251.5) Members of the council shall be persons of genuine Christian character who love the church, are morally disciplined, are committed to the mandate of inclusiveness in the life of the church, are loyal to the ethical standards of the UMC as set forth in the Social Principles and are competent to administer its affairs. Directs the actions of the administrative and programmatic committees and insures that they are working to obtain the goals and objectives of the church. Changes church structure and assigns committees as necessary to implement goals. Determines which program chair oversees any new activity in the church. Directs resources to the ministries of the church, particularly by adopting and adjusting the yearly budget and by reviewing the monthly calendar. Interprets church policy and approves all policy changes. Approves church leadership changes occurring at times other than at charge conference. Meets on the third Tuesday of every month. FINANCE AND STEWARDSHIP (Para. 259.4) Duties: Review submissions and recommend line items for the annual church budget. Develop plans for providing sufficient income to meet Glenwood s program and ministry priorities. Interpret the budget and oversee the disbursement of funds. Review all financial matters of the church and insure that proper accounting and auditing is maintained on church accounts and in her directly related ministries and groups. C. STAFF-PARISH RELATIONS (Para. 259.2) Duties: Advise and aid Glenwood s pastor and staff to maximize the effectiveness of their ministry. Consult with District Superintendent when appointment changes occur. Oversee staff s compensation, housing, and continuing education. Develop job descriptions for pastors and all paid personnel (staff). Evaluate job performance and recommend employment policies and compensation for all paid employees. Investigate any claim of Child Abuse or Sexual Harassment according to the guidelines of Glenwood s C.A.S.H. policy. Duties: The charge of this committee is to identify, develop, deploy, evaluate, and monitor Christian spiritual leadership for the local congregation. Provide for a varied program of study and small group experiences which extend Biblical knowledge, prayer life, and spiritual growth. Oversee Family Bible night and summer ministries such as vacation church school. To maintain contact with the churches immediate neighborhood and support local mission work, especially the work of the Erie United Methodist Alliance. Generate support for Glenwood work trips.
