The poses are challenging only because they are held for several minutes as you bring awareness deep into your body. This quieting practice inspires focus and inner calm, and is complementary to the more active asana styles. This is an all-level class. Fee: $48 (ID: YYS) Full Moon Meditation with Tracy Wednesday, Sept. 6, 7-8:30 pm The full moon is an auspicious time for spiritual practice. Join your fellow seekers for an evening of gentle asana, relaxation and silent meditation. Tonight, we will be practicing the Gayatri Mantra, devotion to the eternal light. Fee: $12 (ID: S65) Beginning Meditation with Donna Wednesdays, Sept. 6-27 (4 wks), 7-8:30 pm Meditation is the heart of yoga practice, a method for acquiring a clear and tranquil mind. Learn the basics: a comfortable sitting posture, diaphragmatic breathing, relaxation methods, and essential concentration techniques used in the yoga tradition. Discover a new level of peace within yourself. Fee: $48 (ID: S66) Spiritual Study and Practice Group for Women Thursday, Sept. 7, 7-8:30 pm Join us on our year-long study of Awakening Shakti, The Transformative Power of the Goddesses of Yoga by Sally Kempton (available in the bookstore). Asana, Pranayama and Meditation WITH YOGA THERAPIST & MASTER TEACHER: SHARI FRIEDRICHSEN Thursday, Sept. 7, 7-9 pm This class begins with strengthening ourselves through breath awareness and postures, naturally guiding us to explore what s beneath the surface in our bodies, hearts and minds. Practicing asana in this manner will enhance our sensitivity to the power and healing nature of prana. This guides us further inward to pranayama practices that give us exactly what we need for cleansing, nourishing and replenishing. Once we have established ourselves quietly in the subtle dimensions of ourselves through asana and pranayama, our meditation practice is a continued movement inward towards that which is sacred, profound, and innate.
