Jerry Goacher (941) 923-2665 Lodge Representative, Andrew Gluchov 407-765-4447 Greetings from the East My Brothers, First let me humbly thank you for your vote of confidence in electing me to lead the lodge as its for 2013. I consider myself blessed to have been given such a great opportunity to be part of the history of. When I walk into the Lodge Room, you can t help but look at the wall of Past Masters and acknowledge the lineage of our lodge. So many great men with so many accomplishments, not only within our lodge, but also within the district to include the appendant bodies of Freemasonry. I truly have a great and important undertaking before me. I ask that our Supreme Architect of the Universe give me the strength to lead, my past masters give me wise council, and the Craft give me support as I do my best to make Sarasota Lodge # 147 proud of the choice they made Dec 11th 2012. My goal will be to encourage new members into the lodge as well as increase lodge participation on the sidelines. In order to do this, I plan to use a 3F approach. FUN, FELLOWSHIP and FAMILY. I want to make lodge a time to have fun and have great fellowship. By fostering this mentality we become a family. I have my ideas on how to accomplish this but I want to hear yours as well. Remember, this is your lodge!!! I am here to help your voice be heard and bring your thoughts to the Craft. So please, don t be shy about letting me know about any great ideas you might have! I want to hear them. I have more to express but I will save that for our Lodge Meeting on Jan 8 th and future Trestle boards. I encourage you to attend one or both of our Stated Communications to learn more. I look forward to serving the Craft and seeing you in Lodge! If you are interested in being a part of a committee, please be present on the sidelines and let your wishes be known. Remember bothers, we are only as strong as our weakest link. If you have ever felt there is a need to improve our lodge, this is the time to step up and bring your creative ideas to the table. Saturday, January 12, will be a Master Mason Degree. We will be raising RW:. Gerry Goacher s class as well as courtesy work for Phoenix Lodge. The degree will start at 8am promptly. Please come and support these newly raised On January 22 nd we will have our DDGM, R:.W:. Barry Hart visits our lodge. Let s show R:.W:. Hart our Sarasota 147 pride and give him a hearty welcome by filling the side lines and sharing in fellowship. That night we will also celebrate our Lodge Birthday! Do you know how old our lodge is? On Thursday, January 24 th, the Master Masons Association will be having their first meeting of 2013. This is to be held here at starting at 6:45pm with School of Instruction following afterwards at 7:30pm. Any Master Mason is more than welcome to attend and hear what is going on in our district. Also, on Wednesday, January 30 th, the district will be hosting a Rusty Nail Reunion at Sahib Shrine, located at 600 Beneva Road. This is an ideal event for brothers who wish to come back to Lodge, but need a refresher. Registration starts at 6:30pm with a tyled program starting at 7:00pm. Bring your 2012 dues card and dress is casual. Damian Ostermeyer Senior Warden From the West Masonic Education "The True Gentleman is the man whose conduct proceeds from good will and an acute sense of propriety, and whose self-control is equal to all emergencies; who does not make the poor man conscious of his poverty, the obscure man of his obscurity, or any man of his inferiority or deformity; who is himself humbled if necessity compels him to humble another; who does not flatter wealth, cringe before power, or boast of his own possessions or achievements; who speaks with frankness but always with sincerity and sympathy; whose deed follows his word; who thinks of the rights and feelings of others, rather than his own; and who appears well in any company, a man with whom honor is sacred and virtue safe." (John Walter Wayland ) These are the qualities I have found to be exhibited by those Masons who have inspired me to enter in to the fraternity and by those who continue to inspire me today. Br. Juan de la Rosa BANQUET NIGHT Items of Note "Once in so often," King Solomon said, Watching his quarrymen drill the stone, "We will club our garlic and wine and bread and banquet together beneath my throne. And all the Brethren shall come to that mess As Fellow Craftsmen--no more and no less. "Send a swift shallop to Hiram of Tyre, Felling and floating our beautiful trees, Say that the brethren and I desire Talk with our Brethren who use the seas. And we shall be happy to meet them at mess As Fellow Craftsmen--no more and no less. "Carry this message to Hiram Abif-- Excellent Master of forge and mine: I and the Brethren would like it if He and the Brethren will come to dine (Garments from Bozrah or morning-dress) As Fellow Craftsmen--no more and no less. "God gave the Hyssop and Cedar their place--also the Bramble, the Fig and the Thorn-- But that is no reason to black a man's Face because he is not what he hasn't been born. And, as touching the Temple, I hold and Profess We are Fellow Craftsmen--no more no less." So it was ordered and so it was done, And the hewers of wood and the Masons of Mark With foc'sle hands of the Sidon run And Navy Lords from the Royal Ark, Came and sat down and were merry at mess As Fellow Craftsmen--no more and no less. The Quarries are hotter than Hiram's forge, No one is safe from the dog-whips' reach. It's mostly snowing up Lebanon gorge, And it's always blowing off Joppa beach; But once in so often, the messenger brings Solomon's mandate: "Forget these things! Brother to Beggars and Fellow to Kings, Companion of Princes-forget these things! Fellow Craftsman, forget these things!" Kudyard Kipling

Hopefully the chapter will bring home a few trophies and awards through the various sporting and ritual events held at Mini Conclave. Membership is an important factor at the moment; we are initiating more prospects to apply for a charter within the next month. However fundraising is also very important and in the next six months the chapter will be working to build its foundations. So be sure to expect more events from Sarasota Chapter of DeMolay in the near future.
