On the reward the doers of good First Sermon All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds. He rewards the dowers of good generously. For them He prepared the Gardens of Pleasure. I bear witness that there is no deity save Allah, having no associates. I also bear witness that our Master and Prophet Muhammad is the Servant of Allah and His Messenger. May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, his family and companions, and all those who follow them in righteousness till the Day of Judgment. As to what follows, I urge you and myself, O Servants of Allah, to be aware that you are asked to obey Him the Most Exalted in line with His orders: and it will be said to those who feared Allah, What did your Lord send down? They will say, [That which is] good. For those who do good in this world is good; and the home of the Hereafter is better. And how excellent is the home of the righteous. (An-Nahl: 30). Dear Muslims, Our religion is one of kindness and has urged Muslims to do all that which is good, both in words and deeds. Allah, the Most Exalted has made this as a general principle of high standing as He says, and who is better in religion than one who submits himself to Allah while being a doer of good. (An-Nisaa: 125). Kindness is therefore the goal of the believers, the practice of the righteous and the objective of those who are true to their faith. To further emphasise the elite status of such virtue, Allah the Almighty has praised the Prophets and Messengers pbut as being good doers because they believed in their Lord, announced that which has been revealed to them from Him and perfected their acts of obedience. For instance, in His holy Book, Allah the Most Exalted says about Noah pbuh, peace upon Noah among the worlds. Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good. (As-Saffat: 79-80). For another, the Almighty says about Ibrahim pbuh, We called to him, O Abraham, You have fulfilled the vision. Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good. (As- Saffat: 104-105).

Another example on this is the one of Musa (Moses) and Haroon (Aaron) pbut whom Allah the Exalted in Might praises saying, peace upon Moses and Aaron. Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good. (As- Saffat: 120-121). For his part, our Master and Prophet Muhammad pbuh, the example of the righteous and the most perfect of his people in performing acts of worship, was also commended by Allah the Most High as a doer of good. The Almighty says, and the one who has brought the truth and [they who] believed in it - those are the righteous. They will have whatever they desire with their Lord. That is the reward of the doers of good. (Az-Zumar: 33-34). There is no doubt that the Messenger of Allah pbuh is the one who has brought the truth and has set a pattern for the doers of good. To this, Anas Ibn Malik, may Allah be pleased with him, said, The Prophet pbuh was the best of all the people. Following the example of the Prophet pbuh, the companions, may Allah be pleased with them, have also set a great model in kindness. An illustration of this can be found in the following story. When the Messenger of Allah pbuh arrived in Medina, the Muhajirun (emigrants) came to him and said, O Messenger of Allah! We have not seen a people more willing to sacrifice when having a lot, nor more patient when having a little than the people whom we are staying among. Our provisions are so sufficient, and we share with them in their produce. In this Hadith, the emigrants are praising the people of Medina for their hospitality and kindness. May Allah be pleased with all of them. O Believers, Please know that kindness comes in many forms. For example the believer can be a good doer by observing acts of worship and obedience to their Lord as well as being mindful of Him, the Most Exalted. The Messenger of Allah pbuh has illustrated this as he said, Ihsan (i.e. perfection or benevolence/kindness) is to worship Allah as if you see Him, and if you do not achieve this state of devotion, then (take it for granted that) Allah sees you. In another narration he pbuh said, to fear Allah as if you see Him, and if you do achieve this state of devotion, then (take it for granted that) Allah sees you. So, those who observe the 2

obligatory acts of worship to perfection would, definitely, be amongst the good doers in their obedience to the Lord of the Worlds. Furthermore, it is also part of kindness to adhere to the commandments of Allah the Almighty with regard to being dutiful to one s parents, marinating ties of kinship and being kind-hearted with friends and neighbours. On this account, Allah the Most Exalted says, worship Allah and associate nothing with Him, and to parents do good, and to relatives, orphans, the needy, the near neighbour, the neighbour farther away, the companion at your side. (An-Nisaa: 36). O Servants of Allah, Undoubtedly, kindness is the cornerstone for establishing good relationships amongst human beings. This is because a kind person would engulf with his kindness all of the people. As such, he/she would speak to people using the best and sweetest words of mouth in line with Allah s orders: and speak to people good [words]. (Al-Baqara: 83). Allah the Most Benevolent accentuates this in another Aya, for He says, and tell My servants to say that which is best. (Al-Israa: 53). A good doer will also treat people decently, following the instructions of Allah the Almighty related to the positive approach in interaction amongst people. About this, the Almighty says, repel [evil] by that [deed] which is better; and thereupon the one whom between you and him is enmity [will become] as though he was a devoted friend. (Fussilat: 34). Truly, it is part of the character of the doers of good to be kind with those who mistreat them, turning thereby their animosity into friendship and hatred into affection. Their kindness would also encourage them to engage in charity so that they would spend on the poor to meet their needs, as well as pardon those who wrong them. Our Lord says, and hasten to forgiveness from your Lord and a garden as wide as the heavens and earth, prepared for the righteous, who spend [in the cause of Allah] during ease and hardship and who restrain anger and who pardon the people - and Allah loves the doers of good. (Al Imran: 133-134). This way, the community will prosper thanks to the kindness of its members amongst themselves, and happiness prevails as a result of their compassion, harmony and love. Dear Muslims, 3

Kindness yields numerous fruits with great goodness and virtues. It is a way for obtaining the ultimate reward from the Almighty Allah for He says, and Allah loves the doers of good. (Al Imran: 148). It is also a cause for attaining a position close to Allah and receiving His satisfaction, mercy, protection and support. The Almighty says, indeed, Allah is with those who fear Him and those who are doers of good. (An-Nahl: 128). Indeed, Allah the Most Merciful is close to the doers of good; engulfing them with His care and endowing His mercy upon them. The Exalted in Might says, indeed, the mercy of Allah is near to the doers of good. (Al-Aaraf: 56). Ultimately, the doers of good will earn the best reward from their Lord, being Paradise wherein they will be extra blessed by looking into His sublime countenance. The Lord of the Worlds has illustrated such a great reward for those who have done righteous in His holy Book for He says, for them who have done good is the best [reward] and extra. No darkness will cover their faces, nor humiliation. Those are companions of Paradise; they will abide therein eternally. (Yunus: 26). In their gracious perpetual dwelling, they will cherish the numerous kinds of pleasure that their Lord has endowed upon them and which the Most Exalted describes saying, indeed, the righteous will be among gardens and springs, accepting what their Lord has given them. Indeed, they were before that doers of good. (Ad-Dhariyat: 15-16). Bearing this in mind, let us pray to Allah the Almighty to make us amongst His good-doing servants and admit us to the Garden of Pleasure. O Allah, may we also seek Your grace to continue blessing us with love, union and glory; and approve our martyrs. May Allah guide us all to obey Him and obey His Messenger Muhammad pbuh and obey those He have commanded us to obey in line with His orders: O you who have believed, obey Allah and obey the Messenger and those in authority among you. (An-Nisaa: 59). May Allah direct us all to the blessings of the Glorious Quran and the Sunna of His Messenger pbuh. I say this and ask Allah for forgiveness for me and you, so invoke Him for forgiveness, for He is the Most Forgiving, the Most Merciful. Second Sermon 4

All praise is due to Allah the Lord of the Worlds. In His holy Book the Almighty says, and do good; indeed, Allah loves the doers of good. (Al-Baqara: 195). I bear witness that there is no deity save Allah, having no associates. I also bear witness that our Master Muhammad is the Servant of Allah and His Messenger. He is an ally to the righteous. May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon our Master Muhammad, his pure family, companions, and all those who follow them in righteousness till the Day of Judgment. I urge you, O Servants of Allah, and myself to be aware that you are asked to obey Him, the Most High and Exalted. O Worshipers, We are observing a dear occasion in which we commemorate with utmost pride and appreciation the noble and loyal martyrs of the nation. They have set a role model for the generations to come in their well-doing and sacrifice of their blood and soul in the way of their Lord and for the sake of protecting their land and honour. So, we seek Allah s favour to reward them for their good deeds with the like thereof and prepare for them in the Hereafter Paradise and approval. Allah, the Most Gracious, has raised the status of martyrs and promised them the best of rewards for He says, and never think of those who have been killed in the cause of Allah as dead. Rather, they are alive with their Lord, receiving provision, rejoicing in what Allah has bestowed upon them of His bounty, and they receive good tidings about those [to be martyred] after them who have not yet joined them - that there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve. They receive good tidings of favor from Allah and bounty and [of the fact] that Allah does not allow the reward of believers to be lost. (Al Imran: 169-171). On another level, these days also bring to our memory our founding fathers and their good deeds. They have established the union of the United Arab Emirates, laid down the foundations of its renaissance and led its march towards prosperity and glory. The union that they have built have yielded its blossoming fruits on grounds, setting a pattern for other to emulate in cooperation which Allah, the Most Exalted, has ordered His servants to maintain for He says, and cooperate in righteousness and piety. (Al-Maida: 2). It is their right on us, therefore, to celebrate their 5

memory and invoke Allah the Almighty for them in return of their kindness and good deeds. The Most Exalted says, is the reward for good [anything] but good? (Ar-Rahman: 60). That is said, please bear in mind that you are instructed to invoke peace and blessings on the Prophet pbuh. Allah, the Most Sublime, says, indeed, Allah confers blessing upon the Prophet, and His angels [ask Him to do so]. O you who have believed, ask [Allah to confer] blessing upon him and ask [Allah to grant him] peace. (Al-Ahzab: 56). On the same matter, the Prophet pbuh said, For everyone who invokes a blessing on me will receive ten blessings from Allah. O Allah, please confer Your blessings and grant peace upon our Prophet Muhammad pbuh, his family and all of the companions. May Allah be pleased with the Rightly Guided Caliphs: Abu Bakr, Umar, Uthman and Ali, and all of the noble Companions. O Allah, we implore to You to increase us in faith, assurance, cooperation, success, consolidation and harmony. O Allah, may You also forgive us and our parents and bless us in our offspring. Our Lord, please continue blessing us with happiness with our families and in our homeland, and make us amongst those who are dutiful for their parents and kind to their kith and kin. May Allah grant success to the UAE President HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and guide him to all that is good. O Allah, we also seek Your favour to grant him continued health and care. May Allah also ensure success to his Vice-President, trustworthy Crown Prince and his brothers, Their Highnesses the Rulers of the Emirates. O Allah, please forgive all of the Muslims, men and women, living and dead. We pray to Allah to show mercy on late Sheikh Zayed, Sheikh Maktoum and the late UAE Sheikhs. O Lord, grant them abundant mercy and bless them with Your kindness and satisfaction. O Lord, forgive and show mercy on our parents, relatives and whoever has done a favour to us. O Allah, we implore to You to continue blessing us with Your bounties, endow upon us Your favours and make us rejoice peace of mind and wellbeing. O Allah, please accept our good deeds and accept our prayers. 6

We pray to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds, to continue blessing the UAE with stability and welfare and increase it in bounties, knowledge, civilisation, happiness, beauty and tolerance. O Allah, please continue blessing it with happiness and security. May Allah have mercy on the honourable martyrs of our nation and gather them with the ones upon whom Allah has bestowed favour of the prophets. May Allah make the dwelling of the martyrs, their families, parents and relatives with the righteous. Indeed, You are ever responding to the supplications. O Allah, please grant the best reward for the families of the martyrs and offer them patience and solace. May Allah grant victory to the soldiers of the Arab Coalition who gathered to restore the rights to their owners. O Lord, please be by their side and guide the Yemeni people to everything that is good. O Allah, make them rally for the word of truth and legitimacy, and bless them with welfare and stability, O the Most Generous. O Lord, we beseech You to bless all of the Muslim countries and the whole world with stability and peace. O Allah, we seek Your favour to send us wealthy rain and make us not amongst those who are despondent. O Allah, relieve us! O Allah, relieve us! O Allah, relieve us with a wealthy, healthy and sufficient rain! O Allah, give us from the blessings of the sky and grow for us from the blessings of the earth. Our Lord, give us in this world that which is good and in the Hereafter that which is good, and save us from the torment of the Fire. O Allah, admit us to Your Paradise with the righteous. Indeed, You are Exalted in Might and Forgiving. O Servants of Allah, remember Allah and He will remember you. Be grateful of His benevolence and He will increase His blessings to you. Please stand up for prayer. 7
