The Season of Lent Begins Ash Wednesday - March 1 The season of Lent is the 40-day period (excluding Sundays) before Easter. Lent begins with Ash Wednesday, the seventh Wednesday before Easter. Christians around the world gather on Ash Wednesday to confess their sin and to prepare for the season of Lent. Ashes are an important biblical symbol for grief, confession and repentance (see Job 42:3-6). The palm leaves from last year s Palm Sunday celebration are burned, and the ashes are placed on the forehead of the worshiper in the shape of a cross. Ash Wednesday service and the imposition of ashes will be held at WPC, March 1, 7:00-8:00pm. All members of the community are invited. We look forward to you joining us for worship as we enter the Season of Lent. Wednesday, March 8, marks the beginning of the mid-week worship services during Lent. Services will be held Wednesdays evening through Easter week, 7:00-7:30pm in the sanctuary. The sermon series is titled Walking Together. The services on Wednesday evening and Sunday morning worship are a wonderful way to prepare our hearts and minds for the Passion and Resurrection of Easter week. Worship services at WPC are open to all and we encourage you to invite your family and friends to join us.

UPCOMING SUNDAY WORSHIP Sunday Worship Services at 9:30 & 11:00am 9:30am service is live-streamed on the WPC website. 11:00am service is broadcast on WMBG 740AM. Is MOPS for You? Join us this semester and find out! Williamsburg Presbyterian Church is happy to host a Mothers of Preschoolers group! And by preschoolers, we mean kids from birth through kindergarten. Our group meets on the 3 rd Wednesday evening of the month, from 5:30 to 7:30pm. Childcare is available, and dinner is provided for moms and kids! For this semester only (February through May), any mom may attend ONE meeting FREE (see dates below). WPC would like to encourage ALL mothers of young children to try out the group before committing! In February, our speaker will be Chris Trowbridge, WPC member, and owner/instructor of Blossom n Thrive, a brand-new local business which seeks to support parents and children as they learn and grow together (www.blossomnthrive.com). Chris will be demonstrating and discussing using American Sign Language with our youngest learners! For more information, or to RSVP, please contact Jodie Davis, Director of Childcare at WPC, and MOPS coordinator (jdavis@mywpc.org).
