The Season of Lent Begins Ash Wednesday - March 1 The season of Lent is the 40-day period (excluding Sundays) before Easter. Lent begins with Ash Wednesday, the seventh Wednesday before Easter. Christians around the world gather on Ash Wednesday to confess their sin and to prepare for the season of Lent. Ashes are an important biblical symbol for grief, confession and repentance (see Job 42:3-6). The palm leaves from last year s Palm Sunday celebration are burned, and the ashes are placed on the forehead of the worshiper in the shape of a cross. Ash Wednesday service and the imposition of ashes will be held at WPC, March 1, 7:00-8:00pm. All members of the community are invited. We look forward to you joining us for worship as we enter the Season of Lent. Wednesday, March 8, marks the beginning of the mid-week worship services during Lent. Services will be held Wednesdays evening through Easter week, 7:00-7:30pm in the sanctuary. The sermon series is titled Walking Together. The services on Wednesday evening and Sunday morning worship are a wonderful way to prepare our hearts and minds for the Passion and Resurrection of Easter week. Worship services at WPC are open to all and we encourage you to invite your family and friends to join us.
