B. Call to a Holy Lent 1. Celebrant turns to congregation and reads 2. At conclusion of call, Altar Party kneels for time of silence 3. While congregation and rest of Altar Party remain kneeling, Celebrant stands and ascends to Altar. 4. Deacon goes to Credence Table and hands container of ashes to Celebrant. Deacon returns to position and kneels. 5. Celebrant reads collect for the ashes C. Imposition of Ashes 1. Celebrant imposes ashes on the Deacon and Sub Deacon. 2. Celebrant returns ashes container to the Altar and then kneels in place while the Deacon imposes ashes on him. 3. Sub Deacon, immediately after receiving the ashes, places the center kneeler in place, closes the Altar gate and takes a seat on the Gospel side. 4. Celebrant and Deacon impose ashes on server and congregation. 5. Psalm 51 a. When there are no more people standing in line for the ashes, the Sub Deacons leads the congregation in the Psalm saying, Kneeling, let us say in unison Psalm 51, found on page 3 of the bulletin. Sub Deacon moves to place in front of the Altar and kneels and begins Psalm. b. MC will open Baptistery door for Verger and choir to enter Usher need to open Baptistery door for exit and end of service I. Procession A. Verger leads 1 st Crucifer team and choir through Baptistery door as bell rings. B. When choir is in place, Verger moves to Chapel door and leads 2 nd Crucifer team and Altar Party in as usual for Sunday in Lent. LEM assigned in Chapel move to their seat immediately. LEM assigned in Baptistery moves to cross on center aisle, reverence, and cross to assigned seat in Baptistery.
