JAMES 2:5 What is more important being rich in faith or rich in possessions? Society teaches us that possessions are most important. God teaches a different lesson. When we are rich in faith, we keep God first in all things and realize that material things really don t matter and that it s more important to share with those who have less. Please pray for the repose of the souls of: Ken Bender, son of Betty Line Vince Baum, brother of Ron May their souls rest in our Lord s eternal embrace. "Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration with exposition needs a great push. People ask me: 'What will convert America and save the world?' My answer is prayer. What we need is for every parish to come before Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament in holy hours of prayer." - Mother Teresa of Calcutta The hours that are needed to be filled are: Tuesday 1am, 2am, Wednesday 3am & 4am Please call Jennifer @ 636-940-9858 or Jan @ 636-947-4654 if you would like to sign up for a holy hour. Thank you! Our Lady's prayer group will resume meeting on Monday, September 10th from 9:15 to 11:30 a.m. in the St. Cletus room. We will be discussing "The Mystical City of God" by Venerable Mary of Agreda. All are welcome to join us for the Rosary, Chaplet of Divine Mercy and discussion. We meet on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of each month. OUR NEXT BAPTISM PREPARATION CLASS: WILL BE SEPTEMBER 18 AT 7:00 PM Please remember: our next Baptism preparation class will be Tuesday, September 18, 7:00 PM in our Duchesne Room. Thank you for your faithful and generous support of the programs of the Respect Life Apostolate! You will find an envelope for Friends for Life in your September packet or you can contribute online. In today s Gospel we hear how Jesus makes the deaf hear and the mute speak! In living the gospel, we must open our ears to hear and recognize all the everyday opportunities for making God s presence known especially to those who are poor and suffering. On September 9, the Church also celebrates the feast of Blessed Frederic Ozanam, the founder of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. Frederic heard the call of Jesus to love and serve those who are suffering. Is there a family you know who needs assistance? Please call the Society of St. Vincent de Paul (636-255-1750) so that together we can make God s presence known to those who are suffering and poor. BEFORE WE GET TOO FAR AWAY FROM OUR JOURNEY THROUGH JOHN 6 ON JESUS AS THE BREAD OF LIFE AND ON THE EUCHARIST, I WANT TO SHARE WITH YOU THE FOLLOWING COMPARISION MUCH FOOD FOR THOUGHT: I recently came across this image below. While a bit simplistic, it does make a very good point. Feel free to share it with those who may be open to reading it. Please note as well that the better way to encourage those who may be reluctant to come and celebrate the Mass on Sunday is to share with them what Sunday Mass means to you. At its heart, the Mass is a direct tie to Jesus love because it is a direct link with Jesus Death and Resurrection. As I like to say, the Mass is a portal, and, by entering it, we are standing at the foot of the cross on the first Good Friday and are standing at that empty tomb on the first Easter Sunday, a love which St. Paul says in Romans 5, proves God s love for us. In other words and put more simply, if we don t appreciate the Mass, we don t appreciate the Death and Resurrection of Jesus. Please remember that it isn t too late to join in our deep dive into the Mass. This Wednesday will be our second of six sessions, but we still would welcome you to join us at 7:00 PM in the Parish Hall. AS YOU READ THIS, I AM AWAY FROM ST. CLE- TUS for the rest of this week returning this coming Friday evening. Know that I will be thinking of you all and praying for you as I visit New Orleans and its environs. It s nice to get away once in a while.

Journeying through Grief Ministry Blessed are they who mourn for they shall be comforted. Matthew 5:4 St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Grief Ministry is offering a Christ-centered support group for anyone who is mourning the loss of a loved one. We all experience loss in our own unique way. There are times in our lives when we need support, prayers, and to be with others who are also mourning. Losing a loved one is one of the biggest challenges we will ever face. People deal with loss in different ways; there is neither a right nor a wrong way. For some grief support is helpful in beginning their journey moving through the valley of grief. In mourning we begin to build our bridge toward a new and different life. The group will meet for five consecutive Tuesday evenings in October (2, 9, 16, 23 and 30), from 7:00 8:30 p.m. Once a month follow-up sessions will be held on the first Tuesday of each month following the October session. Participants are invited to bring a guest. The location is the S.E.A.S. Memorare Room at 2 Seton Court, St. Charles, MO To register please contact one of the following: Marilyn Lucido at 636.946.2511 or smlucido@charter.net Mary Kutchback at (636) 946-9758 or marykback@yahoo.com Steve Cave at 636.947.4314 or scave@cavesafe.com There is still time!! If you, a family member, or someone you know is interested in exploring the Catholic faith, please join us for the beginning of the inquiry period on Thursday. Contact Deacon Mark at 636-946-6327 ext. 1712 or at mmccarthy@saintcletus.org for A NEW ROUND OF SUPPER 8 IS IN THE OFFING!
