P.O. Box 308, Holdingford, MN 56340 Cohabitation before Marriage: reasons why you shouldn t. Most Couples who lived together: * are more likely to never marry or have a higher divorce rate, * have greater marital conflict, poorer communication and more visits to marriage counselors * are less likely to be faithful to one another * experience higher verbal aggression and are less supportive of each other * wives suffer more domestic violence and are more likely to be depressed * don t experience the best physical intimacy The reasons listed above are possible consequences for couples choosing to cohabitate but there is a reason above this to consider. You are not just a couple, you are a couple needing to be in right relationship with God. He made you and you are gifts to one another. In addition, you are members of a community in which you set an example. The time spent preparing with your priest and sponsor couple is meant to be one of serious discernment and of discovering mutual respect. Sexual intimacy, while binding a couple together emotionally, can delay true intimacy, the intimacy that allows choosing love and forgiveness daily through all trials. Waiting to share the gift of sex should not be seen as a passive delay of passion but as an active training faithfulness.many of the virtues that hold marriages together are developed when a couple practices chastity-for example, humility, self-control, patience and a willingness to sacrifice. What should we do if we re already living together? Step one is to begin reserving sexual intimacy for marriage. Love is patient, and couples who are confident in their love know that they will have the rest of their lives to enjoy sex. But now is their only time to prepare for marriage and to lay the foundation for the rest of their lives together. Through this time of patient expectation, couples will discover that healthy relationships do not require sex in order to be intimate but rather...the gift of your bodies in sexual intercourse is a profound symbol of the giving of your whole self. When marriage is done with obedience to God, you not only give your whole self to your spouse but also give yourself to God. I am Yours! Remember that no matter what has happened in the past, purity can be regained if a couple turns their hearts to God. To begin this process, they should return to the sacrament of reconciliation. 7 Reasons Why Office of Marriage and Family and chastity.com

New Evangelization Corner Dear Friends, I have some exciting news! Thanks to a grant from the Catholic Foundation, our cluster was able to purchase a subscription to FORMED.org. FORMED is an online service that will give us access to thousands of Catholic videos, audios and e-books. And the good news is that every single parishioner will get access to FORMED by signing up for their own free account! This means that you will all be able to listen to Lighthouse talks through your smart phone or computer whenever you want! (You won't have to stop by the parish to pick up a CD.) You will also have access to Catholic saint movies, teen programming, documentaries, and bible studies. I guess you could say FORMED is a Catholic version of Netflix. I m most excited to give you all access to Catholic formation in your homes. I use FORMED the most when I am doing dishes or scrubbing my floor. Listening to a good talk makes my chores pass by more quickly! Watch the bulletin in the weeks ahead for further instructions on how to use this website and content recommendations. We will also be offering trainings for parishioners who would like assistance navigating the FORMED website. You will be seeing a lot of me as I make my way to Faith Formation and Confirmation parent nights to teach our families how to use this wonderful website. For those of you who don t want to wait for further information, you can create an account today. Go to tworiverscatholic.formed.org to sign up. Remember, because the parish paid for this subscription, this is free of charge, so you will not have to enter any payment information. My prayer is that through this tool, we will all come to know the love of Jesus more deeply and become better disciples of Him. In Christ, Kristin Molitor PS. If you do not have access to the internet, don t worry! You will still have access to Catholic formation through our Lighthouse Media Kiosks.
