FIFTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME FEBRUARY 7, 2016 Our Lady of Mercy Happenings New Beginnings is a social support group open to both men and women who have lost a loved one. We will meet for lunch on Thursday, February 11 th at 11:30 a.m. at the D&R Depot Restaurant at Lake Street in Le Roy. Please call Norma Kelly at 494-0301 by Tuesday, February 9th to make a reservation. Eucharistic Adoration continues every Thursday at the St. Peter s Worship Site and will open after the 8:00 am Mass and close at 6:30 pm with evening prayer and Benediction. Please take a moment to stop in the Church during adoration and spend some time in prayer. Every Saturday morning at 8:00 a.m. the Mercedarian Third Order prays the Rosary for the end of abortion, world peace and the sick or distressed of our parish. Everyone is invited to participate. St. Joseph Oratory Update: We have been waiting over the past few months to see if we would be able to secure insurance coverage for the work that needs to be done to the Oratory ceiling. Just about two weeks ago the diocese informed us that we would receive insurance coverage since the damage is due to the melting of the heavy snow of last winter. When we informed our contractor that we had waiting in the wings that work could begin, they declined the job. This means we are back to square one. We will need to find new contractors and submit new quotes to the diocese. I ll keep you posted as things develop. ~ Fr. Michael The Deacon s Closet Ministry: The purpose of this ministry is to assist those who cannot afford medically needed equipment to assist with in home care with items such as wheelchairs, hospital beds, canes, walkers, commodes, etc. If you have any of these items and are not using them, please consider donating them to the Deacon s Closet at Our Lady of Mercy Parish so that we can help out those in need. If you need the use of items or want to donate, please call 585-813-3588. There is no charge for the use of equipment. Please pray for those suffering from illnesses. We especially ask that you remember to pray for the following: Barbara Brown, Bonnie Caccamise, Pam Chiocca, Diane Coccia, Cris Condidorio, Lucy and Al Cucurullo, Gerald Gaylord, Charles Chick Iannello, Nick Kabala, Madonna Lee, Ken Mac- Gregor, Donald Mancuso, Maridee O Geen, and Juliana Spadacino. If you or a loved one is sick and would like to be added to this parish list, please call the parish office. St. Brigid s Happenings The Holy Name Society s Annual Breakfast is this Sunday, February 7th. Serving will be from 8:30 till 11:00AM. The price is still only $5 for adults and $3 for children. You will enjoy a delicious breakfast of fresh sausage, pancakes, eggs, juice, milk and coffee plus a chance to shake the winter blahs and enjoy the company of your fellow parishioners. A raffle will be held with all proceeds being donated to the American Legion Flag Holder Memorial Fund for the replacement of the bronze flag holder which were stolen from the cemeteries. Look forward to seeing you there. Our Annual Soup Supper will be held in the St. Brigid Church Hall on Ash Wednesday, February 10, following 5:30PM Mass. If you are planning on coming to the soup supper, please sign-up in back of church so we will have an idea of how much food to prepare. Walk-ins are always welcome. During Lent our parish will participate in the Rice Bowl Project. For more than 40 years this has been Catholic Relief Services Lenten faith -in-action program, incorporating prayer, fasting and almsgiving into our Lenten journey. Rice bowls, along with a day-by-day calendar guide, for home use will be available in back of church and at the soup supper. Return the rice bowls during Holy Week. (Videos can be viewed at crsricebowl.org. There is even a CRS Rice Bowl app for your phone).
