Victory Riders meet the 2 nd Monday of every month at Rick s Pizza on Oak Street in downtown Jena. Come early, (around 6) to eat and fellowship and we will begin the meeting at 7:00 P.M.

A word from the President October was a great month for being on the bike. The weather has been wonderful and to see the beauty that God has placed on this earth for us to enjoy was spectacular. Jean and I left on October 11th headed to Iron Mountain for the CMA Changing of the Colors Rally. We were off on that Thursday and Friday for fall break. My intentions were to go up on that Thursday and come home on Sunday to work Monday and Tuesday since they don t like for us to take a whole week off during school. We began to pack early in the week and by Wednesday we had the bike and car packed and ready to go. When I got to work on Wednesday I was told that I could take the whole week off and not have to drive back to work the two days. What a blessing that was. Jean and I got to make a few rides before the rally started on Wednesday. James and Rita joined us on Wednesday to enjoy the rally. There is something about being on the Mountain during the Colors Rally. God is so present in everything there from the praise and worship services to the preaching even in the times that we volunteer to work parking. This year was one of the largest ever with over 2700 registered. If you want to see what CMA is really all about then you need to make plans to join us for the Changing of the Colors Rally next year which will be held at Iron Mountain beginning Wednesday, October 16, 2013. I encourage you to make plans now to join us for a wonderful time of fellowship and praise with fellow CMA members. The CMA National West Rally will be held in Chama, New Mexico on July 16 20. Jean and I plan to make that rally this year. We will leave on Saturday, July 13, 2013 and ride to Pagosa Springs, Colorado where we have a timeshare. Our plan is to stay at the timeshare and ride to the rally (about 50 miles each way) each day. We are offering any of you that want to go with us the use of our timeshare at no cost. We will stay through the following Friday, leaving for home on Saturday morning. It is about a 1200 mile ride out there and takes a good two days. We will arrive Sunday evening and have Monday, Tuesday and most of Wednesday to ride the beautiful countryside of Southwest Colorado. If you are interested in joining us we will need to know soon so we can book the condos. We will be discussing more about this at the Bikes and Burger meeting next Monday (Nov. 5) at Mitch s. At our November chapter meeting we will be holding elections for chapter officers. God has a plan for our chapter and He knows who He needs in what office for the challenges He will lead us through. Please be in prayer as to who God wants to lead us through this next year and how God is going to use you whether it be in an elected office or any of the many other areas of service that is needed to make our chapter successful. It s All About JESUS! David Smith, President PS. Wear your colors proudly.

Chaplain s Corner Atonement, Blood and Covenant Atonement is the covering of sin, the reconciliation between God and man, accomplished by the Lord Jesus Christ. It is a special result of Christ's sacrificial sufferings and death, by virtue of which all who exercise proper penitence and faith receive the forgiveness of their sins and obtain peace. Leviticus 17:11 For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the alter to make an atonement for your souls: for it is blood that maketh an atonement for the soul. Covenant: The term applied to various transactions between God and man. Hebrews 12:24 And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaketh better things than that of Abel. Hebrews 13: 20 21 says 20 Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, 21 Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen. It truly is all about JESUS! Norma Sharp, Chaplain Road Captain Report Hello everyone, this year has certainly flown by quickly, as Thanksgiving and Christmas will be here soon. On October 1 Bikes and Burgers were enjoyed by David, Mike and Pat, Rita and me. Good food and fellowship. Bikes and Burger night was held at the Barn in Columbia on October 15. Those enjoying the delicious food and great fellowship were: H.O. and Paula, Bill and Norma, Jeanie and Dillon, Mike and Pat, Dennis, Rita and me. Rita and I drove to the Colors Rally in Hatfield to join David and Jean on October 17. We enjoyed every minute, great preaching, singing, seminars and fellowship, and the feeling of unity and really feeling like you're home. We stayed in a motel, but hopefully next year we'll be able to camp out on Iron Mountain. David and Jean volunteered in several areas. The countryside was beautiful; the only thing missing was the rest of our chapter members. On October 27 I had to work, so I missed the food drive for senior citizens, held at Mac's Market in Jena. Rita said it was a huge success. Afterwards lunch at PawPaw's Fish Fin in Jonesville was enjoyed by: David and Jean, Donnie, Jeanie, Dillon, Bill, H.O., Paula and Rita. I hear the food was good. At our chapter meeting I will discuss some tentative rides. I really like the food for thought note in this month's CMA Heartbeat: What if you woke up tomorrow with only what you thanked God for today? It s all about Jesus. James Dedman, Road Captain

They served and fought to protect us, to keep our country safe, and to preserve our way of life. Veterans gave their time, and risked their lives for you and me. In some cases, they made the ultimate sacrifice. Run For the Son May 4, 2012 The Veterans Day National Ceremony is held each year on November 11 at Arlington National Cemetery. The ceremony commences precisely at 11:00 A.M. with a wreath laying at the Tomb of the Unknowns and continues inside the Memorial Amphitheater with a parade of colors by veterans' organizations and remarks from dignitaries. The ceremony is intended to honor and thank all who served in the United States Armed Forces.

This holiday originally was called Armistice Day and was first celebrated in 1919 and declared a federal holiday in 1938. In 1954, the name was changed to Veterans Day in honor of those who served and died from all wars. November 22 - Thanksgiving Day Tucked between the two holidays of Halloween and Christmas, Thanksgiving sometimes receives less attention. But Thanksgiving is a very important holiday, especially in the busy lives of Americans. It is a time to kick back and relax, watch a football game or go to a movie, and enjoy a huge feast. It's also time for us to give thanks to God, for the things He has bestowed upon us and upon this great nation. There is no nation in the world that has more to be thankful for than us. Thanksgiving History: The first Thanksgiving was celebrated between the Pilgrims and the Indians in 1621.That first feast was a three day affair. Life for the early settlers was difficult. The fall harvest was time for celebration. It was also a time of prayer, thanking God for a good crop. The Pilgrims and the Indians created a huge feast including a wide variety of animals and fowl, as well as fruits and vegetables from the fall harvest. This early celebration was the start of today's holiday celebration. Like then, we celebrate with a huge feast. Today, most of us enjoy Turkey with "all the trimmings". The "trimmings" include a wide variety of foods that are a tradition for your family. Those traditional foods often replicate the foods at the first Thanksgiving feast, while others are traditional, or a special food item that your family always serves at Thanksgiving dinner. Then to top it off, pumpkin pies, apple pies, pecan pies and sweet potato pies are bountiful around the table. precedes the meal. In many homes, family members will each mention something they are particularly thankful for. Did you know? Potatoes were not part of the first Thanksgiving. Irish immigrants had not yet brought them to North America. After the first Thanksgiving, the observance was sporadic and almost forgotten until the early 1800's. It was usually celebrated in late September or October. In 1941, Congress made it a national holiday and set the date as the fourth Thursday in November. Day after Thanksgiving - You're Welcome Day encourages us to simply say "You're welcome". It helps to put manners back into society. This very special day comes the day after Thanksgiving. On Thanksgiving Day we say "Thanks" for what we have. So, it only seems natural, that "You're Welcome" immediately follows a thank you. Jean Smith November 6 David Smith November 24 American Thanksgiving traditions revolve around a huge and lavish meal, usually with Turkey as the centerpiece. For those who do not like turkey, a roast or prime rib is common. As tradition has it in most families, a special prayer of thanks

Colors and Colors By Jean Smith David and I left home on Thursday, October 11 bound for Iron Mountain. Our plans were to do some riding before the Changing of the Colors Rally started the following Wednesday evening, but also to enjoy some much needed downtime to just rest and rejuvenate in the company of God s people. We did both. Friday and Saturday were spent in camp visiting with old friends like Jim and Loretta and J.B. and Carol; while also making new friends Terry (Cletus) and Theresa from Georgia and Russell and Barbara from Mississippi, among others. Many other folks stopped by for a visit and a cup of coffee (that Bunn paid off) and shared stories of past Rallies. On Sunday we rode North on Highway 71 up to just south of Fayetteville where we turned East on Arkansas 74/16. Highway 16 intersects Arkansas 23 south of St. Paul. AR 23 is also known by the nickname The Pig Trail. We followed it South, crossing the Mulberry River and seeing some absolutely beautiful fall foliage before arriving in Ozark. From there we continued on AR 23 to it s intersection with US 71, then on back to Iron Mountain. Monday morning we were joined by a friend who was in need of some R&R for a ride up to Mt. Magazine State Park for lunch in that magnificent Lodge Dining Room. The scenery and foliage on Mt. Magazine Road was every bit as beautiful as what we had seen on Sunday. After a delicious lunch and a very nice visit with 2 other bikers we enjoyed a relaxing ride back to camp. James and Rita arrived around noon Wednesday and it was great to have some more of our chapter there to share our experiences. The Rally actually got underway Wednesday evening with John Ogden bringing the opening message. As always, it was both convicting and challenging. Each service was from a different perspective, but each was just what I needed to hear. As always, praise and worship, led by Jerry Williams, was awesome and the concert by Branded on Friday night was indescribable. The entire week was just amazing and I m already looking forward to next year. Of course, in the meantime there will be Flame On, Seasons of Refreshing, National Rally (East and West), and State Rally. WOW! When can I register? Colors and Colors Tuesday s loafing was interrupted only by a two hour stint on traffic duty where we had several opportunities to visit with more friends, old and new.

Thanksgiving Food Drive The Food Drive held on Saturday, October 27 at Mac s Big Star in Jena was a huge success. We collected a grocery cart full of nonperishable food as well as $76.00 cash which we then spent at Mac s for more nonperishables for the Senior Citizens of LaSalle Parish. The groceries were delivered to the LaSalle Council on Aging on Monday, October 29 by Dillon Stevenson and will be distributed by the COA to Seniors in the area who might otherwise not have a traditional Thanksgiving Day meal. November is Election Month Chapter elections will be held at our November meeting pursuant to CMA guidelines. Pray that God will lead you in your choices and that He will use our chapter to help in Changing the world, one heart at a time. Here are the candidates we have to choose between: Vice President: Bill or Mike, Secretary: Jean or Pat; Treasurer: Paula or Rita; Road Captain: James or Bill; and Chaplain: H.O., Norma or Mike. CMA elections are not the only ones being held this month. November 6 is Election Day in the United States and we will be electing leaders who will direct our country for the next four years. Please exercise your constitutional right and cast your vote on Tuesday if you have not already done so. PLEASE!!! Bring the list of your CMA activities to the chapter meeting, or call, e-mail or text it to me. This includes rides, rallies, hospital visits, witnessing or prayer opportunities. You don t need to include details, just the month and type of event. I must report these on my quarterly report. I try very hard to remember who is present at things I attend, but I also need to report your individual activities. Thanks, Jean (Special thanks to Norma and Rita for e-mailing those to me each month!) Here's a historical curiosity to observe this election cycle. Since Election Day was standardized in 1845 there have been 6 presidential elections held on November 6th and Republicans have won all six. That means next Tuesday, the 7th Presidential election held on this date, will either break or uphold a streak that began in 1860 with the election of Abraham Lincoln. If you have pictures of events, e-mail them to me & I will include them in a future newsletter!
