Dr. Timothy Faber, Director of Missions lakeoftheozarksba@att.net lakeoftheozarksba.com The Voice JULY 2018 It has been a pleasure serving as DOM of this association for the past five and half years. It has been fun and a true joy! We have fellowshipped and worshipped, and learned, and served alongside one another for the furtherance of the Kingdom, and it has been fun and pleasurable... but this this past month it has been more than pleasurable. I m downright proud of you all! In spite of the fact that we were not able to put together a mission team to travel out of state, we have been busy doing mission work in our own Judea.... Locust BC (off 135 between Laurie and Stover) was planning a Community Funfest for June 9 th. They are a small church looking to reach new people, but their resources are limited. So when discussing their plans with them I asked if they had lined up a bounce house. They hadn t cause they figured it would cost too much money. Well our association s bounce house was already booked that day, but Mt. Herman has a bounce house, so when I approached Bro. Kent about Locust using their bounce house it was like a magnet is a barrel of nails. By the time it was all said and done There were several members of Mt. Herman, our two summer missionaries, and myself, along with the bounce house, snow cone machine, and several other games and activities at Locust for their Funfest. It was a beautiful day and many visitors. At least one family has become regular attenders of the church as a direct result of the event and we were privileged to help with it. Then there was Younger Children s Camp at Camp P-82! What an awesome time! What a lot of work... what a lot of fun. From the camp committee meetings over the winter and spring, to clean up on Saturday night there were more than a dozen volunteers representing six different churches Camp Director, Kitchen staff, cabin leaders, camp nurse, and others working together to minister to the kids and further the Kingdom of Christ. On a more recent day this past month (it was a Thursday) I dropped in to see Jack Kirkham, pastor of Montgomery BC near Greenview. Jack and I have been friends since I was pastor in Boonville and he was a deacon at Climax Springs. Anyhow, I asked if there was anything they needed and he mentioned that a large tree limb had recently fallen on their playground and picnic area and was wondering if I had any recommendations on a tree service that could come clean that up for them. Well, it just so happens that the best tree service in such a situation is also commonly known as Disaster Relief Chain Saw Crew. So I called Bro. Tim Smith and asked whether the DR team needed some practice. He was willing and we sent out the word. By Saturday morning (slightly more than 36 hours) we had 8 guys representing 3 churches (Bro. Tim, Cory Stark and Cory Dunn, DJ and Peter from Aurora Springs, Walt from FBC Iberia, and Steve from Riverview) there at Montgomery BC working on that limb. In about an hour it was cut into firewood, brush piled, playground raked free of debris, and retaining wall repaired. AWESOME!! We also have a request from FBC Tuscumbia to do paint their fellowship hall. We are planning to do that Monday, July 2, starting about 9am. If you want to come and help that would be great! There is also at least one instance of churches partnering together for Vacation Bible School.
All of this shows what a great association we have! And it shows why an association of churches exists... to help one another do what we cannot do alone. And it makes me proud of you all! So If I bust a button, it may not be the ice cream... which by the way there will be plenty of at Blue Springs on the 14 th Hope to see you there! SUMMER MISSIONARIES AT WORK My name is Caleb Fain, and am one of the summer interns for the Lake of the Ozarks Baptist Association. I am currently going into my sophomore year of college and am currently getting my associates degree in business, before moving on to study biblical and theological studies. The past month of me being here has been very eventful. We have been hard at work serving other churches and pouring into the members as much as we can, and I have been enjoying every second of it. Every week begins a new VBS, and every new VBS brings in a new group of kids. Whether I am teaching kids about Jesus through the Bible studies, teaching them to grow in their walk and share the gospel in missions, or leading them through games in recreation, every day opens a new opportunity to share about Jesus. I can t wait to see what happens the rest of the summer. My name is Triston Potts, and for the past couple of months I have been working as an intern for the Lake of the Ozarks Baptist Association. I am currently going to school at TRCC for religious studies. I live in Poplar Bluff Mo, We have been going around to churches in the area and preaching, and helping out when needed, and volunteering at VBS. I feel called to go into youth or kids ministry, so working up here with the kids and youth and seeing where God wants me, has been an amazing experience for me and I hope the kids are learning just as much as I am.:)

Church Vans and Buses Needed! After Hurricane Harvey this past year, we realized that it could be incredibly helpful to have a list of church vans that could be used after major disasters to transport volunteers. If your church or association would be willing to allow the Missouri Baptist Convention's Disaster Relief team to have access to your church van or bus in the future we would be sincerely grateful! Your church or association can play a major part in bringing Help, Hope, and Healing to those who are in need. If allowing us to use your van or bus is a ministry your church would be willing to partake in during major disaster in the future, send us an email back with answers to the questions below and we will put your van on a contact list! How many passenger seats: Does is require a special license? Which one? Address where van is located when not in use: Contact person: Contact number: Contact email: Thank you for your interest in serving those who need hope in the midst of disaster.
