THIRTY-THIRD SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME Good Shepherd Girl Scout Troops 10643, 10664 and 10663 will be collecting "Blankets for Bethesda" as part of their Fall Service Project. Gently used or new blankets can be donated from November 9 until December 5 at the school. There will be two large barrels in the front of the office for collecting the blankets. The girls will be making some blankets to donate as well in a workshop in early December. They will deliver the blankets to Bethesda Mission for the homeless, when they are done. Thank you in advance for your help! TRINITY HIGH SCHOOL NEWS Thanksgiving Food Drive will be held from November 16 November 25. Trinity s Annual Open House Event will be held on Sunday, November 22, from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Students, parents, and parishioners are welcome to experience a day in the life of Trinity students. Trinity's Thanksgiving Prayer Service will be held on Wednesday, November 25, at 8:15 a.m. All are invited to pray with us! The Matthew 25 Collection was inspired by the verse from the Gospel of St. Matthew, Whatever You Did for the Least of My Brothers and Sisters, You Did for Me. This local collection will be taken up in parishes of our Diocese on Sunday, November 22, with a goal of providing funding to assist those in need of food, clothing and shelter. Of monies collected, 25% remain at the parish to meet the needs of specific parishioners and 75% are used to fund local grants for diocesan and/or community agencies that are empowered to meet a larger need. Remembering Our Veterans Heavenly Father, thank you for America s heroes who have served our country so faithfully. Neighbors Helping Neighbors Remember to utilize the Community Aid collection bin which is located in the Good Shepherd parking lot behind the Parish Hall. Community Aid is a faith-based, locally run, non-profit organization that raises funds for distribution to local schools, churches, synagogues and non-profit organizations. Your donations of clothing and shoes can be purchased by people in need for a greatly reduced cost in the Community Aid store on the Carlisle Pike. For every pound of clothing we collect and donate, a stipend is given back to Good Shepherd Church. This money is utilized to support the needy within our parish community. Receipts for donated goods for this 501 (C)(3) charity are available at the Community Aid store on the Carlisle Pike. Bishop Gainer will solemnly open the principal Diocesan Door of Mercy at Saint Patrick Cathedral on Sunday, December 13, 2015, at 4:00 p.m. in the context of Solemn Vespers for the Third Sunday of Advent. The prescription for the solemn ritual involves gathering at a stational church with a procession to the Door of Mercy: we will gather at Saint Lawrence Chapel, State Street, and process together to the Cathedral where Bishop Gainer will solemnly open the Door of Mercy and lead us through into this year of grace. Participants able to make the small pilgrimage are asked to gather at St. Lawrence Chapel by 3:50 p.m. Those unable to walk in procession are invited to go immediately to the Cathedral. WYD Stateside is a 26-hour overnight vigil for groups of high school youth and young adults from the Mid- Atlantic area. Our Diocesan celebration will take place in Lancaster, PA on July 30 & 31, 2016, at Lancaster Catholic High School and Clipper Magazine Stadium. The cost, time and distance of traveling to an international World Youth Day can be prohibitive, which is why we present this overnight vigil in the Diocese of Harrisburg and invite the young people of our region. Those attending will experience a series of events similar to those that will occur in Krakow- a pilgrimage walk, Stations of the Cross, opportunities for Confession and Adoration, Mass, concerts, catechesis, an outdoor overnight candlelit vigil and more.
