Parish Mission Statement As members of the Church of Saint Adalbert, we strive to be a loving, vibrant Roman Catholic community, dedicated to being church for one another and supportive, helpful, and caring to all. As we nurture our Polish Catholic heritage, we endeavor to be a community that welcomes everyone. (Parish Mission Statement, Adopted June 17, 1998) St. Adalbert, pray for Us! From the Desk of Deacon Joe My Dear Friends, On April 11, 2011, I walked into the Church of St. Adalbert not knowing a single person here. Seven years later I leave for another assignment knowing every single one of you has touched my life in so many ways. I have prayed with you, worshiped with you, laughed and cried with you. I ve witnessed some of your weddings, baptized your children and buried some of your loved ones. We ve celebrated birthdays, graduations and anniversaries together; made Butter Lambs, Gołąbki, and Pierogi; shared Opłatek at Christmas, Holy Thursday Simple Supper during Holy Week, and bread and salt at our Doźynki. I have grown to know and love you and our Polish traditions and I m a better person for having been a part of this parish family. You have become a wonderful welcoming community. I pray that what we have worked together to build over these last 7 years will continue to stay solid and grow even more. As I walk into Our Lady of Hope parish in Fort Plain I will remember my experience here and bring what you have taught me to my new parishioners so I will be constantly reminded of all of you here. I will stop back from time to time as I can and invite you to visit Our Lady of Hope (Fort Plain) should you ever be in the area. You are in my prayers daily and I ask that you pray for me and Carol as well. God bless you, Deacon Joe FAITH FORMATION 2018-2019 SCHOOL YEAR REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN! ANNE & JOACHIM Parents of the Blessed Virgin Mary & Grandparents of Jesus Sunday, July 29, 2018 10:30 A.M. Mass Ice Cream and other Refreshments will be served Dziékuje Deacon Joe! There is an old Polish blessing that begins: Niech twoja ręka będzie wyciągnięta do wszystkich, których spotkasz i niech wszyscy ludzie mówią "brat" o Tobie, kiedy mówią. (May your hand be outstretched to all you meet and may all men say "Brother" of you when they speak.) A little over 7 years ago, we greeted Deacon Joe who succeeded Father Urban after his nearly 4 decades as our parish leader. I am sure that BOTH Deacon Joe and each of one of us weren t really sure what lay ahead in our future together. Deacon Joe had a lot of challenges on his plate besides just being the new guy on the block. As he moves on to a new assignment, it is only fitting that we thank him for taking on us and those challenges, and let him know that he successfully dealt with many of our challenges and moved us closer to our goals as a parish. A couple of years ago, we celebrated St. Joseph s Day by celebrating two average Joes - St. Joseph and Deacon Joe. Those words are as appropriate today as they were then: Knowing that Deacon Joe is a humble person and would not attempt to compare himself to a Saint let alone the step-father of Jesus, those of us who have worked along side him and come to know him can t help but notice the similarities. Like St. Joseph, Deacon Joe has spent the greater part of his life quietly working with his skilled hands to make a living and raise a family. Like St. Joseph, Deacon Joe s hands are ready to be put to labor when a job needs to be done, to offer comfort or guidance as needed and always prepared to be folded in prayer in both bad times and good times. Like St. Joseph, Deacon Joe has responded faithfully to God s call. First, when he accepted the call to become a permanent deacon. Then once again, when he was asked to adopt us, the Church of St. Adalbert, and become the head of our family. And just as St. Joseph faced difficulties and uncertainties in leading, protecting and providing for the Holy Family, Deacon Joe has faced challenges in his role leading our parish family. Joe, you arrived as a Deacon and took on your role as our parish leader with outstretched arms. As you move on, you will always be a much cherished brother with a special place in our hearts and our parish home. We wish you and Carol much joy, peace, success and laughter in the years ahead. We will keep an extra place for you and Carol at our parish family table. Diakon Joe, Niech Bóg zawsze błogosławi ciebie i twoją rodzinę! Deacon Joe, May God bless you and your family always! For us who remain, the Church of St. Adalbert, we must remember that we are not left alone but are still in good hands -- for united with the Holy Spirit... 117 gifts received towards our goal of 230 gifts HAVE YOU MADE YOUR GIFT YET?

PARISH PRAYER Please pray this prayer often so we may become more Eucharist-centered: Dear Jesus, Through bread and wine at the Last Supper, and by your holy word, you gave to us, your Church, the Sacrament of the Eucharist. You transformed common food and drink into your Body and Blood together with your Soul and Divinity and offered us a share in your life in ways we still cannot fully understand. Grant now that we will always treasure the Gift that we have in you Truly Present in the Sacrament of the Eucharist. Give us the grace to be faithful to you, remain in communion with your Church, and actively participate in the mission and life of our parish. Each time we celebrate and receive the Sacrament of the Eucharist, the Bread of Life and Cup of Salvation, make us always aware of the Hope we have of sharing in your Resurrection. Keep our hearts aflame as we actively invite others, by our witness BOTH individually and as a parish community, to share in the Gift of the Eucharist. Amen.
