right DIRECTION. Thoughts from Pastor Janice As believers and followers of Jesus Christ, our DESTINATION is set and secured. We are saved by grace through faith; we received the gift of eternal life when we were baptized. We are certain that we will go to heaven [our destination] when we die. So for us, the time between our spiritual birth [baptism] and our physical death isn t about trying to get somewhere, it s about moving in the Are we consistently moving in the DIRECTION of more fully living and experiencing eternal life, life in God? Are we consistently moving in the DIRECTION of a living in deeper relationships, balanced between our life with God, life within the church, and life with people who don t know Jesus yet? Are you doing this as an individual? Are we doing this as a congregation? We need to model our lives after the Master, Jesus, who lived out his earthly life in THREE RELATIONSHIPS: UP with his Father IN with his chosen followers OUT with the hurting world around him This three-dimensional pattern for living a balanced life is evident throughout the Bible and can inform us in how to experience fruitfulness in our ministry, our relationships, and our personal spiritual walk. JESUS GOT UP Directories and Coffee Mugs Available There are still pictorial directories and coffee mugs available. If you have not received your free copy of the directory, contact Jackie. Adjournment Schultz/Knight Respectfully submitted, Kelly Zillmer 10 Worship Volunteers We are currently looking for people who would be interested in participating in a monthly special worship service either by special music, readings, testimonials, etc. Contact Penny Madson, 715-754-2814 or Pastor Janice if you are interested. Continued from Page 2 Jesus balanced his life perfectly among these three relationships with God, with believers, with non-believers. So as you seek to model your life on Jesus, ask, How s my/our balance? [If they all need work, start with UP life with God always starts with God! Remember what matters is DIRECTION! DO YOU GET UP? personal prayer, meditation, Bible reading on daily basis; worship with your faith community weekly DO YOU INVITE OTHERS IN? getting together with others for faith growth with a few others, like in a 24/7 SMALL GROUP DO YOU REACH OUT? in whatever type of ministry/ service God has put before you: meeting the needs of others for Christ s sake and in his name. Welcome Team / Hospitality Captain The Elders are seeking an individual to serve our congregation as HOSPITALITY CAPTAIN, to oversee the various tasks of hospitality and welcoming. The WELCOMING TEAM would include Ushers and Greeters and others. Is this description piquing your interest? Is God perhaps calling you up to take on this role? If you d like to see a complete job description or have any other questions, let Pr. Janice or one of the Elders know [Nancy Heiman, Faye Miller, David Schmidt, & Shawn Peebles]. American Idol Finalist Phil Stacey Concert Wednesday, July 18, 6:30 p.m. Lions Point Park, Marion Opening performance by Matt Kolb His Way Events is super excited to announce a Family Event to be held on Wednesday, July 18, at Lions Point Park, 327 W. Garfield Ave, Marion, WI from 6:30 to 8:30p.m. Phil Stacey is an American singer who first gained national attention on season 6 of the television talent show American Idol. Phil supported his family as a U.S. Sailor, remaining on active duty as he appeared on the TV show. Following Idol, he signed with Lyric Street Records and began working on an album, the first single from which, If You Didn t Love Me, was released to country stations in early 2008. His self-titled debut followed in April. He is, as you might expect, a man doing music for more than selfish reasons. I feel my job as a singer, he says is part of my job as a human being. I m supposed to be touching other people s lives, doing the best I can to be a positive force in the world. Opening for this event is Matt Kolb who was born and raised in Oshkosh. He began his musical journey at the age of 13. "Music has always pulled at me, from a child singing in the car with my family. Matt began playing drums at 13, and singing and playing guitar at 15. Being heavily influenced by the late 80's heavy metal scene he found himself playing in several all original acts in the Fox Valley from high school to the late 90's. Since 2010 he has written over 30 songs speaking of his trials. Matt Kolb is a soulful up and coming local talent. To find out more, visit His Way Events on Facebook, or call/text/ email Marie Williams: 920-574-4300; smileymaie@rocketmail.com 6 "Growing Up" is the theme of our next Annual Gathering. Dr. Kent Hunter of Church Doctor Ministries has been invited to help us to consider how congregations of any size can be focused on the Great Commission and develop a kingdom mindset. Jo Kinnard will be returning this year to serve as Bible study leader as we reflect on the text of Ephesians 4. It is time for our churches to grow up and become mature, hearing the call for every member to carry out the work of ministry as God has designed His Church to do. Fellowship Meet-Ups: We're offering several opportunities to get connected with a fellowship group, join a district, network with other LCMC-ers, or reunite with old friends and colleagues. Service Project: For our service project this year, we will once again be teaming up with Meals from the Heartland to help assemble meals for the hungry. Our goal this year to raise $80,000 for supplies and package 320,000 meals for people in need. Breakout Sessions: Explore topics related to your interests at two different sessions. Photo Contest: All eligible photos submitted by Monday, July 16, 2018 will be considered for publication in this year's Annual Gathering book and on our website. The conference will be held in Des Moines, IA, Oct. 7-10, at HyVee Hall Convention Center, 730 3rd St. The Hilton Des Moines Downtown offers complimentary airport shuttle and free parking for hotel guests and is offering a favorable discount for the Annual Gathering at $149/night. Registration for the event is available online at: https:/www.lcmc.net/18-ag/registration. For more information go to: www.lcmc.net/annual-gathering. 7
