Pastoral Sabbatical Many have asked what my plans are for the sabbatical that will begin on Memorial Day weekend. Dr. Robert J. Brink Senior Pastor Jamie Conkling Worship Arts Pastor KC Graves Pastor of Student Ministries Jerry Mitchel Pastor of Visitation Stacy Krull Director of Children s Ministries & Preschool Director Marge Harvey Day Care Director Nancy Krick Office Manager Notary I will be taking advantage of renewal opportunities in several different locations. I will be reading, studying, teaching, worshipping in other churches and camp meetings, and spending time in prayer and reflection all in order to recharge myself and my ministry. Some of the time will be spent alone, some with family, and all with focused attention on God. Our Associate Pastors, KC Graves and Jerry Mitchel, along with a summer series of concerts and mission guests, will be leading our services and preaching while I am away. There will also be many opportunities for ministry as we band together to do the work of the ministry normally done by myself. Many blessings will be poured out, both in us and through us as we serve. Probably the greatest single benefit of the sabbatical is its spiritual dimension. From the outset, God designed the idea of Sabbath as a time for physical rest and spiritual renewal. God intended that man should benefit from and be edified by this scriptural concept. Today, He is still Lord of the Sabbath. The heart of the sabbatical program is His idea. (Pastoral Sabbatical F.A.Q Sheet) Trusting in the Holy Spirit, Dr Robert Brink

MISSIONARY OF THE MONTH Zach and Audrey Langford-UK Greetings from Birkenhead to our faithful partners in ministry, We are are continually humbled by your support, encouragement, and for walking with us through this journey. Since the beginning of the new year, Audrey and I have been busy with ministry in Birkenhead and throughout the region. One of the most important and meaningful ministries for us is our young adult group that meets in our home. What started as a birthday celebration for one of our young adults has developed into an ongoing time of fellowship around the dinner table. It is important to note that there is great skepticism toward church and religion in our area. We felt there was an opportunity to connect with this group in a non-threatening way and it has lead to deeper conversations and even matters of spirituality. We are excited to share with you that we are taking five of our young adults to the Church of God UK National Convention. For a couple of them this will be the first time out of the Northwest. Also, BIG NEWS if you haven't seen on our Facebook page, we are expecting our first child in early October. As you can imagine we are beyond excited for this chapter in our lives. In addition, we will be going on home assignment (HA) for six months this June. Originally our plan was to take HA in 2017 or later, however we feel that the timing of the baby and other circumstances make it appropriate to take it now. We continue to heavily invest in the youth programs which have seen a tremendous increase since December. Mark Rainford will continue to support this ongoing ministry while we are away. Pray that the momentum continues to build as our kids and teens are challenged. We will be sharing with the Decatur Church of God on Sunday, June 29 th in the Morning Worship Service at 9 AM. our brothers and sisters going on the Kentucky mission work trip June 19-25. VBS BLAST at Union Chapel June 12-16th. Pray for our leaders and youth as they are attending the International Youth Convention June 29 th -July 7 th. Jubilee Conference in Gatlinburg, Tennessee September 19-21 Sign up at the Welcome Center $119-$169 (depending on room occupancy) All adults welcome!! Thank you to all our friends who sent cards, notes, prayers and visited the Funeral Home when our sister Ilo Frank Cline died. You are loved and appreciated! Larry & Patty Meyer Thank you for the cards and gifts for our 60th Anniversary. We were overwhelmed and appreciate your kindness and thoughtfulness. God has blessed us with family and many friends over the years and He is to be praised for the gift of time He has given Noel and I together. Thank all of you again. Noel and Barb Thatcher I want to thank the church for all the prayers, visits, cards and gifts before and after my recent knee surgery. I am getting better each and everyday. Thank you. Ed Hirschy PRAYER FRESHENER FOR THE MONTH "The devil is not terribly frightened of our human efforts and credentials. But he knows his kingdom will be damaged when we begin to lift up our hearts to God".--Jim Cymbala

The Worship Corner From the desk of Pastor Jamie May 2016 Edition Worship Singers is our church praise choir and meets every Wednesday evening at 6pm. We will be breaking for the Summer beginning Sunday, May 22. However, the choir will be singing 2 song selections as part of the service at the Indiana North Camp Meeting of the Church of God @ Yellow Creek Lake Camp on Saturday evening, July 30 at 7pm. We will be meeting the Wednesday before on July 27 at 6pm to rehearse and go over the 2 songs we will be doing. If you would like to sing with us this night, we would LOVE to have you. Our choir will be joining a couple other choirs that night to really lift praise to our Lord. Pastor Jamie will be the worship leader for the weekend. Help is needed in the Sound Booth We are short a few individuals that help in our sound booth with the computer. We need at least 2 people willing to learn the MediaShout that we use weekly in our services. Hopefully this would only require a once a month commitment on Sunday morning to be on the computer. This area of ministry is an important area of our worship ministry here at DCOG. The sound and computer allows the communication between the speakers and music to be understood clearly. Each area makes sure the worship experience is a positive one, with the words being displayed correctly and timely. If you have an interest and can help, there are professional sound training seminars we can send you to in order to help in your understanding as well. There is minimal time required to do this ministry. If you are looking for ministry to plug into, please see Pastor Jamie if this is an area you can assist and serve. Be the SALT! Pastor Jamie Elders Meeting May 12, 2016 Lew Simerman opened the meeting reading the Purpose and Vision Statements. Time was given to share God s blessings and the needs of the congregation and the Elders. The Elders took time to go separately and spend time in prayer. The Elders received the financial report. We received a packet regarding all the Sabbatical information including schedule and assignments. Dion Jordan reported on the status of the roof. The Boards of Building will be moving forward on a decision. We began the discussion on whether we should have a board of Deacons. We spent time on the why of having Deacons and looked at scripture. Following are thoughts discussed: It is a Biblical model. The role of the Deacons is mainly to be a servant; to care for the physical needs of the church members and the Church. Do we have Deacons in place already with our different committees? It can be unifying for leadership. It can cause a sense of responsibility. How would that affect our Elder meetings? More time will be given for prayer and discussion on this matter.

PRAYER CHAIN REQUESTS: Kim Gahr Tabor In Concert Sunday, June 12 9am Kim is returning to DCOG once again to share in music and worship! She developed her singing and performing, working alongside and gleaning from artists like Sandi Patty and Bill Gaither. In the meantime, Kim helps lead worship with husband Brian, who has become nationally recognized as a leading Minister of Worship through pastorates with large churches and leading worship for many conferences and conventions. In 2001, they both sensed a calling to full-time concert ministry, and began traveling the country as conference worship leaders and ministry concert performers. Kim s voice soars in the music she shares and has been compared only to Sandi Patty. You will not want to miss this morning on Sunday, June 12 at 9am for an amazing time to worship our Lord with Kim Gahr Tabor. If you have a request to place on the Prayer Chain, please call one of our Prayer Chain Co-Coordinators Marilyn Frey #724-9521 Doris Poindexter #724-4088 If you need further assistance, please call the church office.
