Pastor s Page Why Many people know on Easter Sunday following morning worship, I fell down a flight of stairs while visiting another church. It was by far one of the scariest moments in my life. My immediate response to this accident, after the shock wore off was, Why me. After working with the flu to make sure all of my ministerial obligations were complete and after walking carefully in front of my daughter to prevent her from falling down the stairs moments earlier, I fell; all I could think was Why me! Why this Due to the nature of the fall I was put in a cast and ordered to stay off of me feet. No longer was I thinking why me, my mind transitioned to Why this! I ve always been a very mobile person, I could not fathom losing agency to come and go at my will. More importantly Why now! I had so many things planned in the month of April, work, responsibilities, and obligations. This hardly seemed like the proper time for me to just sit. Instead of complaining about my circumstances I decided to seek out meaning during my time of recovery. inconvenient moments that leave us broken. We are not privileged to always dictate our journey, but if we focus we can always find the Blessing in the Midst of the Brokenness. We may not understand it now, but Gods got everything under control. Sometimes we must stop in order to see what we ve been missing... Romans 8:28 states... And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. Pastor D. Marie Announcements from The Region Reflecting on the last thirty days, I now chuckle at my audacity to even think why me, why this and why now. No one gets the privilege of dictating all aspects of life; not even Jesus. There were relationships developed, people who d grown dependent on Jesus presence, and work that needed to be done, yet even Jesus submitted to his period of affliction, pain, and separation. Jesus understood Gods plan was connected to something much greater, others would never see until it was finished. Sometimes you have to disconnect in order to have an everlasting reconnect. The unexpected can happen in a matter of seconds to anyone. I ve learned in critical moments it becomes much easier to focus on the inconveniences before recognizing meaning can be found in the midst of the brokenness. Maturity means submitting to the will of God and walking in faith, even in the 2
