TODAY AT FAITH Today is the second of four Sundays of Advent. IN worship on these Sundays we anticipate Christmas in a variety of ways. Our prayer as a church is that Christ would come to you in a special way this Christmas. May the Christ of Christmas be worshiped, adored, shared and served at Faith Church! This morning and evening in the messages we ll continue in our Old Testament Heroes of the Faith series by looking at Daniel the Man and the Plan. In particular we ll see how the book of Daniel shows us the Spirit of the coming Christ at work in this hero of faith, and it also shows us what the Spirit of Christ reveals about His plan through His prophet, Daniel. This morning we ll enjoy a Carol Sing prepared by our Music Committee to help us celebrate Jesus this Christmas season. This evening we ll spend some special time in worship preparing our hearts for celebrating the Lord s Supper next Sunday morning. UPCOMING WORSHIP HIGHLIGHTS Sunday, December 14, 9:30 AM: Communion Sunday, December 21, 9:30 AM: Baptism Sunday, December 21, 6:00 PM: Candlelight Christmas with Sunday School Children Thursday, December 25, 10:00 AM: Christmas Morning Worship PRAYER & PRAISE After the morning service, if you have prayer needs, please visit room 1 on the north side of the sanctuary. We express our Christian sympathy to Lori & David Klaassens and family following the death of Lori s mother, Joyce Gordon, last weekend. A funeral service was held this past Tuesday. Diane Dash has been diagnosed with leukemia and is undergoing treatment for it. Her doctors feel that the prognosis is good and treatment is going well, but Diane has very little energy and is not feeling well. Kathy De Vries is scheduled to have hernia surgery on Tuesday. Eleanore Gorter is in the midst of some doctor appointments and another bone marrow biopsy to determine how to continue treating her leukemia. Pray for increased energy and effective treatment options for Eleanore. Marian Slinkman is at Oakbrook Care for rehab. Tom Tazelaar began hospice care this week to help manage his pain. Pray that Tom s pain level will decrease, and also pray for comfort for him and his family in this next step. Garry Wieringa continues to undergo rehab at Providence, but will hopefully return home in the next week or so. Remember to pray for those who are unable to join us in worship. Today we think of Bernie & Bernice Lindemulder who live in Elmhurst.

The idea to do a Valentine s Tea this year came from Jolene s recent book, Be Mine Your Invitation to God s Lavish Love.
