Easter Sunday 2018 After a Lent of grace and reconciliation, we come to the empty tomb of Our Lord and Savior and proclaim Alleluia! Today and throughout the world we sing this song of praise, rejoicing in the core truth of our faith that Jesus Christ rose triumphant from the dead. So on this Easter Sunday we renew our Baptismal Promises, declaring that we reject sin and Satan, and profess our belief in a God whose love is so tangible that we share in the new life of the resurrection even now. Today, and for the next fifty days, we will celebrate and rejoice in the triumph of Christ over the power of sin and death. The joy of Easter should fill us with a renewed sense of discipleship and a renewed hope that not only will we pass through the gates of death and rise to eternal life but we can make things better right here and right now. Each Sunday, we are privileged to experience the Risen Lord in Word and Sacrament so we can witness to His presence in our Church family and the community at large by the way we love one another. By living our Catholic faith with greater integrity, kindness and generosity we can make a difference. People in our families, neighbors on our streets, and co-workers and friends need to experience our joy that comes from our belief in the Lord, risen from the dead. Let us rejoice and be glad in everything we do as His disciples who continue to carry this good news wherever we go and to whomever we meet. I am truly grateful and edified by all our dedicated parishioners of both Churches who volunteered to clean, decorate, and worked to make all the liturgies of the Solemn Easter Triduum and Easter an act of praise to God and a wonderful occasion for our Partnering Parishes to celebrate one faith, one mission-to proclaim Jesus Christ and live as His missionary disciples as best we can! Missionary of Mercy As you may or may not remember, I am one of the many priests designated by Pope Francis for the Jubilee Year of Mercy as a Missionary of Mercy throughout the world. I have been serving in this capacity here in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. At the end of the Jubilee Year (November 2016), the Holy Father decided that this sensitive ministry, an expression of Divine Mercy and the pastoral solicitude of the Church, should continue until further notice as a concrete sign that the grace of the Jubilee remains alive and effective the world over (Misericordia et Misera,9). I was notified that the Holy Father desires to meet with all Missionaries of Mercy, in Rome, April 8 to 11, 2018. So with the blessings of Archbishop Chaput, I leave for Rome Wednesday, April 4. Once in Rome, I will take part in the Prayer Vigil for Divine Mercy on Saturday evening, April 7 th in St. Peter s Square. On Sunday April 8, Divine Mercy Sunday, the Missionaries of Mercy will concelebrate Mass with the Holy Father. The remaining days we will have the opportunity for formation conferences, prayer, Holy Mass, and sharing among ourselves, as well as an audience with the Pope. I return in time to celebrate the First Holy Communion Mass for our children of both parishes on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at 11:00A.M. As I go, please know that I carry you all in my heart and ask that you remember me as well. A Blessed and Glorious Easter to all, Monsignor George A. Majoros 092-3

Easter Sunday Celebrating the Eight Days of Easter We celebrate Easter each day this week. We keep celebrating so that we might continue to enter into the meaning of the resurrection. In the early Church, the newly baptized would be at each liturgy this week, wearing their white garments. We go through our everyday lives this week conscious of the "white garments" we all wear. We are renewed as a priestly people, committed with Jesus to give our lives for others. The resurrection stories, which we read this week, come from communities that are proclaiming the good news. The tomb is empty - Jesus' tomb and every tomb that tries to claim us in death. These are not believers who, in their deep desire, just made up the resurrection. These are people who can hardly believe what they are seeing and experiencing. They, like us now, had trouble recognizing his presence with them. We let the prayers of this Easter week draw us into the joy. Jesus is with us. He is not dead, but alive. And, that makes all the difference in the world in how much hope and courage we have, before any struggle, any possible fear of death. Divine Mercy Sunday April 7-8 2018 Divine Mercy Sunday is a very special Sunday when the Divine Floodgates from Heaven are wide-opened and Jesus offers us the total forgiveness of all sins and punishment to any soul, who goes to Confession and receives Him in Holy Communion, on that day. We want to encourage everyone to take advantage of this incredible promise on this great Feast of Mercy Divine Mercy Sunday. We want you to benefit fully from these promises, and we also want you to notify all of your family and friends about them too and urge them to return to the practice of their faith. The Image of The Divine Mercy, which Our Lord requested to be solemnly blessed and venerated on this day, will be on display in our church. Pope John Paul II said that the image portrays the Risen Jesus Christ bringing Mercy to the whole world. Our Lord said, I want the image to be solemnly blessed on the first Sunday after Easter, and I want it to be venerated publicly so that every soul may know about it. I promise that the soul that will venerate this image will not perish. BLESSED VIRGIN MARY PARISH'S (1101 MAIN ST., DARBY, PA) Community education program will present a six week - six part program: Personal Finance, preparing for your family's financial future.
