Weekend Assistants Rev. Edward C. Kelly Rev. John McKenzie, OSA Rev. Herbert Sperger Rev. Joseph Zaleski Deacon, John Farrell Sacrament of Reconciliation 3:00-3:45PM Saturday St. Hedwig Chapel 9:00AM Sunday St. Charles 4:30-5:15PM before Vigil 6:30-7:30PM on the Thursday before 1st Friday St. Charles 9:15-10:00AM on the First Saturday of the month With this week, we begin the second part of Lent. We ask more and more deeply to be with and like Jesus. We desire to celebrate the approaching mystery of our salvation with greater freedom and greater joy. Each day's gospel will now be from the Gospel according to John. We can't avoid the feeling of being in a court room for a grand trial. There are "witnesses" and "testimony." It is a battle between the forces of Darkness and the Light. The opposition to Jesus mounts. It is inevitable that he will be killed. But, we know that the ultimate Judgment in the trial is against Sin and Death. We grow in gratitude and grace as we experience more deeply that this is all "for me." This Lent, Take a 3-D Journey to the Tomb Of Christ Fast and Abstinence The Bishops of the US prescribe, as minimal obligation, that all persons who are 14 years of age and older are bound to abstain from eating meat on all the Fridays of Lent and Good Friday. Further, all persons 18 years of age and older, up to and including their 59th birthday, are bound to fast by limiting themselves to a single full meal on Ash Wednesday and on Good Friday, while the other two meals on those days are to be light. This Lent and Easter, journey to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, the place of Jesus' burial and resurrection, in an immersive 3-D exhibit at the National Geographic Museum on Metro and near St. Matthew Cathedral in Washington, DC. The Tomb of Christ takes you to Jerusalem and into the church virtually. See the cave walls of Jesus' tomb, hidden for centuries and uncovered during an historic 2016 restoration, and test technology used in the restoration. Details and tickets at nationalgeographic.org/dc/exhibitions/ tomb-of-christ. LEAD BY THE EXAMPLE OF JESUS Daily Masses for Lent Church 8:30A.M. Your generosity makes it possible for them to share in the life of the Church and grow closer to Christ. Please be generous to the second collection! To learn more about the collection, please visit www.usccb.org/latin-america. 092-3
