Square One World Media Prayer Request (S1WM): Pray for Square One World Media s Russian partners as they look for volunteers to be voice actors for a filming session beginning in August. PAC Prayer Project Romans, Chapter 8 talks about the power of God s Spirit in our lives carrying us through our time of waiting for the Lord s return: v26-28: By our faith the Holy Spirit helps us with our daily problems and in our praying. For we don t even know what we should pray for nor how to pray as we should, but the Holy Spirit prays for us with such feeling that it cannot be expressed in words. And the Father who knows all hearts knows, of course, what the Spirit is saying as he pleads for us in harmony with God s own will. And we know that all that happens to us is working for our good if we love God and are fitting into his plans. Let us praise and thank our God for the Holy Spirit s help in so many ways, keeping us from falling off the road even without our knowing, and let us ask him to guide us and renew our passion to do our outreach, individually and together as his church to reach the world around us for Jesus Christ. ~ Rita Schmidt
Building for the Kingdom July Update 1) Met weekly with Pastor Roger Salumu (of Christ Impacting Nations Ministries). We prayed together with the intention of working more closely together and moving towards a multi-ethnic church. 2) Met with the Slavic Evangelical Church congregation to elaborate on the vision and to answer questions/concerns. We are praying that they would have clarity in the future direction of their congregation and whether that would include working towards this multi-ethnic vision. 3) Met with Pastor Ed Buller with Heart of Worship International Church to review the vision and discuss their future with Portage Avenue Church. 4) July 6th-9th I was in Toronto with the Mennonite Brethren Conference, networking and discussing our future with leaders of the denomination. 5) Clarified the job description of the associate pastor role and had initial conversations with a few interested candidates. An urgent request from the MCC Thrift Shops supported by your congregation: Do you have 1-2 days to be a volunteer in July or August? The Sargent & Selkirk MCC Thrift Shop are urgently requesting volunteers and cashiers for relief work over the summer while some regular volunteers are away. Hours are 9:45-4:15 and split shifts would be considered if you recruit a partner to share the day with. Your call would be greatly appreciated by Laura or Wendy at 204783-8185 at Sargent, and Marv at Selkirk 204-586-2527. As a church we are at a critical point in time, moving forward into a new vision of the church. We fully believe that we need to become very intentional in praying for our future, in order to build God's Kingdom at PAC. So, in order to commit this new vision to God and cover it in prayer, we will be meeting for prayer in the prayer room, on Sunday mornings from 9:00 am to 10:00 am. This will be a Spirit-led time of prayer in freedom. People are free to come and go as they please, and pray in any manner they prefer (e.g. spoken, read, written, or silent). We want to emphasize the urgency of the need for our prayers at this point. We hope to see you there. If you have any questions, please talk to Ann Hildebrand or Peggy Jensen. The CANADIAN FOODGRAINS BANK (CFGB) is cosponsoring an interesting event on July 31st at the Manitoba Threshermen s Reunion in AUSTIN, Manitoba. Special feature: See 125 antique threshing machines driven by antique tractors and over 600 pioneer farmers harvest a 75 acre wheat field in mere minutes and other events. Details can be found on posters in the church foyer, or by calling Tami Duff, CFGB, (204) 655-0377 ext. 222.
