INSPIRING WORSHIP ALL WEEK This daily devotion is written to help you prepare for worship the following weekend May 6th 6th Sunday of Easter Key Verse: My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. John 15: 12 Readings:Day 1 Acts 10:44-48 Day 2 1 John 3:10 Day 3 Psalm 98 Day 4 1 John 5:1-6 Day 5 John 13:34-35 Day 6 John 15:9-17 *Sunday readings in bold print Apply: In the majority of these passages this week the center theme is Loving one another and Following God and His only Son s commands. For example verse 3 of Psalm 98, verse 2 of 1 John 5, verse 10 of 1 John 3, verse 10 of John 13, and verses 10, 12, 12 of John 15. Loving one another is not always easy; yet it is easy to love family members, our good friends, our fellow congregational members, and even the little children of needy families. However, it is difficult to love our enemies and people who commit crimes against other human beings. But because of John 15: 12, we must find a place in our hearts for even these people. Now let s look at second theme of the week Following God and His only Son s commands. First, of course is following God s commandments as given to Moses; throughout the gospels Jesus is always asking us to bring, love, mercy, forgiveness, and service to others. Here is a question for you to ponder this week as you study these scripture readings. John 15 verses 9 and 12; how do these verses tie together? How is love the essential dynamic of the Christian life? Prayer: Lord, thank you for all the blessings you give us, and for your everlasting love. Please help us learn to love others as you love us, and help us carry out your commands that we may serve others each and every day, in your Son s name, Jesus Christ. Amen
