Trinity Presbyterian Church 4601 S. Surprise Way, Boise ID 83716 208 336 0665 www.tpcboise.org MISSION TEAM LEAVES IT S MARK IN 2008 By Carlos Diaz 2008 was a busy year for the Mission team! We continued supporting and helping many people and several organizations. Each year Trinity gives out a college scholarship through the Paul & Eleanor Tate Endowment Fund to the College of Idaho. This year we were able to provide two scholarships. We also gave out a scholarship through the Catherine McSween Hill Trinity Whitworth College fund. This past year saw an increase in people contacting Trinity Presbyterian soliciting help with their utility bills or rent. Nine people were provided aid in 2008. The Mission Team contributed $1,000.00 & food to the Boise Rescue Mission to help them continue their ministry work in our community. This Summer, nine members of Trinity Presbyterian along with members of First Presbyterian Church traveled to Biloxi, Mississippi this past summer in support of Hurricane Katrina relief. The Mission team subsidized $2,500 towards Trinity Presbyterian participant s expenses through an existing adult mission trip fund that has been funded over the years by previous Mission team Fund Raising events. The Bucket List was a movie that came out last year. The theme centered on two men who were terminally ill and a discussion that blossomed as they shared a hospital room. That conversation birthed a list of what they wanted to do before they Kicked the Bucket. I came across these lines from a poem recently, So when your eulogy is being read, With your life s actions to rehash, Would you be proud of the Mission Christmas Bazaar. This project was headed up by Natalie Thatcher, who along with her wonderful team of many volunteers, raised $5,500 to date! The mission team contributed $4,000 of this to the Educateperu project, a school located in Pachacutec, Peru, which is one of the poorest, most desolate places. The Mission team also provided $1,000 of this money to Whitney Elementary in Boise to help children in need of Winter clothing. Closing out the 2008 year were two other standing traditions that Kathy Nielson continued this year, the third annual Christmas Tea & the Angel Tree. The Christmas tea was a huge success with the proceeds being deposited into the Adult Mission Trip designated fund. The Angel tree provides gifts for the women at the Chrysalis House. This program provides women with a stable home environment, a nightly dinner, job/life skills training, mentors, structure, etc. Coming up on Saturday, February 7th, 2009 is our Mission team Spaghetti dinner fundraiser. If you are unable to attend you can still purchase the special Spaghetti sauce at church. The Funds raised from this event will go to future Mission projects. We hope to see you there! SERMON SERIES: NO REGRETS, LIVING LIKE YOU WERE DYING the things they say, About how you spent your dash. Are you happy with the way your life turned out or with the direction you are heading? Is there such a thing as a Christian bucket list? If you had thirty days to live what would you do differently? These are some of the themes we will be examining in the up coming sermon series, beginning January 4th, entitled, No Regrets, Living Like You Were Dying.

Musings... By Pastor Joe TRINITY TREASURES By Annette Slaybaugh December was fun and exciting for the children at Trinity Treasures just as you remember the season as a child. The decorations around the center and special treats all add to the anticipation of Christmas. The season was capped with the traditional Trinity Treasures Sing along! Of course, the performers were the children with Pastor Joe leading them while playing his guitar. The audience was filled with parents, siblings, grandparents and friends. What a wonderful opportunity to show off our beautifully decorated church. It looked magnificent with all the children dressed for the occasion and singing in front, and the sparkling Christmas trees surrounding them. Following their performance was a social gathering with healthy refreshments. The excitement of Christmas truly filled the air. Trinity Treasures Christmas Sing along! Page 2 MOPS By Michelle Bissey MOPS: The Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS) group continues to meet on the second Sunday each month from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Our group has grown to fourteen members. If you are a mother of a preschooler (birth through kindergarten), please join us as we explore the MOPS International theme Adventures in Mothering. During our meetings we have dinner, learn from guest speakers, and participate in craft projects. Nursery care is available. Our next meeting will be held on January 11, 2009. Our guest speaker will be Cheryl Haggard. Cheryl is a humorist, speaker and author from Under the Hood Ministries. We will be making Cookies in a Jar for our craft project. Please contact Sheila Giffen at 333 0543 or Melissa Hale at 867 1350 if you have any questions about attending a meeting. For more information view our website at www.tpcmops.blogspot.com.
