Make It Fun (Introductory Activities, 5 minutes) After all of the children have arrived and had time to play, have them clean up the toys so you can begin today s activities! Gather them together by playing Fly or Swim. Fly or Swim What You Need: Fly or Swim Activity Pages. What You Do: Hold up each picture of an animal and instruct the children to either swim or fly according to whether the animal can fly or lives in the sea. What You Say: We have some great fish and birds in here! Today we are going to hear a true story from the Bible about fish and birds. I cannot wait to hear who made the beautiful birds and the amazing fish! Let s get ready to hear our Bible story! 2

Make It True (Large Group Worship, 15 minutes) This month s songs are on the July Preschool Worship CD. Kids and teachers should play instruments during the verses and then do the motions during the chorus. The motions for the verses are provided if you find them helpful, but we encourage you just to dance around in worship. 1. Music Come and See Chorus Won't you come and see what God (Point up) has made? (Fist over fist) Come and see what God (Point up) has made. (Fist over fist) In seven days, seven days, (7 fingers up) God made the world (hands over head in a circle) Verse 1 Well God said, "let there be, let there be, let there be" (pretending you re a train) God said, "Let there be sunshine! (hands up, twinkle fingers) And there was sunshine (Jump and repeat move) God said, "let there be, let there be, let there be " (pretending you re a train) God said, "Let there be wind!, (Wave hands above head) and there was wind (Jump and repeat move) Verse 2 Well God said, "let there be, let there be, let there be" (pretending you re a train) God said, "Let there be vegetables! (Legs in X, arms as wings soaring) And there were eagles (Jump and repeat move) Good Thing Maker Chorus He s the good thing maker, the good thing maker (Two thumbs up, bouncing to beat) He made you (point out) and me (Thumbs to chest) He s the good thing maker, the good thing maker (Two thumbs up, bouncing to beat) He makes very good things (Clap to beat) Verse 1 God made the caterpillar turn into a butterfly (Flap arms) God made the penguin waddle, (Waddle) but not soar in the sky (Arms out soaring) Verse 2 God made the pink flamingo use only one leg to stand (Stand on one leg) God made the silly ostrich bury its head in the sand (Head down in circle made by arms) 3

2. Verse LEADER: Are you ready to learn this month s memory verse? It s all about how God makes good things! God (pointing up) saw (putting your hands around your eyes like goggles) all that he had made, (spreading arms over your head and down to your sides) and it was very good. (giving two thumbs-up) Genesis 1:31 (holding your hands like a book) Let s do it together. Are you ready? Do the verse with the kids two or three times. 3. Offering Pass around the offering bag or bucket to collect any offering for today. Say, We collect offering every week to give the first of our money back to God- 2 Chronicles 31:5 says... the Israelites gave generously. They didn t hold back! They brought in a tithe of everything they owned. Let s offer to God with generous hearts our tithes for today. 4. Video Play this week s video from Wonder, Look at God s Story DVD. Be sure to click on the BIBLE ICON next to the words (and not the words themselves). This will allow you to skip the introduction skit and take you directly to the Bible Story. 4

Make It Stick (Application Activities, 10 minutes) 1. Penguin Waddle What You Need: 2 small to medium size rubber balls. What You Do: Show the children how to walk while holding the ball between their legs. The children will have to waddle side to side like a penguin so they don t drop the ball. After the children have each had the chance to practice, try a penguin relay race! What You Say: Whew! That was fun! I think penguins are fun! They are definitely good things. God made the fish and birds on Day 5. God makes all kinds of good things! Who makes good things? [Bottom Line] God makes good things! 2. Response Picture Signs What You Need: Green and Blue Card Stock with rectangles on them, Fish / Birds labels, small craft sticks, cotton balls, fish and bird stickers, scissors, glue, and tape. What You Do: Give each child a Green rectangle, going over the Bible verse with them. Help the child draw waves and place fish stickers on the green rectangle before tape the top of the craft stick to the back side of the green rectangle, leaving the memory verse side facing out. Give the child a blue rectangle and allow them to attach the label that says God made fish and birds on it along with cotton balls for clouds and bird stickers. Have them turn the green rectangle that is attached to the craft stick over so that the back of the craft stick is facing up. Help the children tape the blue rectangle to the craft stick so that it is directly behind the green rectangle. This will create a sign that has a front and a back. What You Say: Everyone did so well with their signs today! You can go home and show your family what our Bible story was about today. Animals that fly in the sky and swim in the ocean are so amazing and beautiful! I am so thankful that God made these wonderful creatures for us to enjoy! Who makes good things? (Pause.) He sure does! [Bottom Line] God makes good things! 3. Snack Time Talk about what animals are the children s favorite to see in the sky and look at in water. 4. Prayer If time allows feel free to ask for prayer requests. God, we praise You because You can do anything! You make such wonderfully good things. We think You did an amazing job making the fish and birds. Our favorites are (name the things on the list). Thank You for making them. We love You, God. Amen. 5
