Letters from Timothy Letters From Timothy March is looking to be an awesome month at Couts! The reflective season of Lent will begin, March 9 th, with our Ash Wednesday service. I am going to introduce and invite you to a new discipline of prayer. The purpose of this prayer discipline is intimacy with God. So often our prayer life consists only of confession and petition. This form of prayer is called Devotional Prayer. During the 40 days of Lent I will offer two weekly opportunities to share in a devotional prayer service. Each Tuesday during Lent I will offer 6am and 6pm prayer service. The service will included singing, scripture, and prayer. The service will be about 30 minutes which will allow you time to get to work (or Men s Prayer Breakfast) in the morning or home in time for dinner in the evening. I hope you will add this to your plans for the Lenten season. We also are blessed to host New York Times best-selling author of 90 Minutes In Heaven, Don Piper. He will do a book signing 30 minutes before and after he speaks. He will bring a message of hope from 7:00-8:00pm on Wednesday, March 16 th. Keep the SON in your eyes! Daylight savings time starts March 13th, we spring forward and lose an hour of sleep! Couts Scheduled for Center of Hope March 14-17 It s that time again for Couts to serve our community. Our week to cook for and feed clients at the Center of Hope is March 14-17. As you know, that is spring break week and we will need lots of volunteers. Couts Christian Academy CCA celebrated a ribbon cutting on March 1st. What they were celebrating was the addition of 5th and 6th grade for the 2011 / 2012 school year. That means the Elementary School will be complete. CCA is a vital ministry of Couts that has an We ll need for people to We will not be at the Center of Hope in March volunteer to cook food for each of the four days and also people to volunteer to come the Center of Hope to serve. If you can be of help in this ministry, please contact the church office or sign enrollment of 140 children for the current school year. Congratulations CCA for this exciting achievement. Thank You The McKinney family, Obie, Jean, Janice and Rowena would like to thank the Couts family for their prayers during Jean s surgery in November. A special thanks to Tim, Roger Moore and Georgia for being at the hospital with me, and thanks for everyone that came to visit. We were blessed that it was not cancer. We are proud to be a part of the Couts family. God Bless You, The McKinney s Thank You The loss of my brother, Billy Addison was such a shock to me and my family. I had never considered not having him in my life. The body of Christ was never more prevalent for me than what I experienced from you, my Couts family, during the 36 days that he lived after his diagnosis and the days that followed until his Celebration of Life Service on Feb. 22nd. All of your hugs, prayers, words of concern, encouragement and cards have meant more to me than you will ever know. When I looked up before the Celebration Service and saw an entourage of beautiful people from Couts come through the door, I knew that God would see me through the day. You have been the hands, feet and Jesus with skin on to me. I am blessed and I love and thank you. Cindy Hott Page 7
