Look to the example of Jesus and trust that he will bring about good from difficult situations. Today we strip ourselves bare of our illusions and masks. As we join those in preparing for the Easter sacraments, we confront head-on our blindness and insincere intentions and motives. We are all preparing to enter into the life-saving mysteries of Christ's death and resurrection. Today's liturgy reminds us that the conversation is at the heart of it all. We come before the Lord who can do all things and ask him to take away our stony hearts and replace them with hearts made of love. The Lord does not run away from the cross; he embraces it, carries it, and dies on it to accomplish our salvation.
