To glorify God and love others through worship, study, and service. October 11, 2015 James A. Cason Senior Pastor Scott Harris Assistant Pastor ANOTHER DISASTER - ANOTHER OPPORTUNITY TO GIVE Too many times, it seems that I am using this newsletter or the pulpit to urge you to give to aid victims of another disaster. This time, it is the people of South Carolina who have been victimized by the 1000-year flood. Portions of three interstates running through South Carolina were closed to traffic, many people living in Columbia, Georgetown, Charleston, and other parts of the Low Country were flooded out of their homes and businesses. As a church that has a world-wide influence of supporting missions, we cannot simply sit by and do nothing about the needs of our neighboring state. So what can we do? First, we can pray for victims to become survivors. Second, we can make a donation to UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) through the church. 100% of your gift will go directly for disaster relief in South Carolina. You can make your check payable to the church and designate it for South Carolina Disaster Relief. Third, you can wait until the invitation is given for work teams to come to designated areas for flood relief and later rebuilding efforts. The first time I met Johnny Mallard was long before I even knew I would ever become his pastor. In 1994, Johnny came with others to Leesburg, where 25 members in the church had to rebuild homes damaged in the flood. I can tell you first hand what it means to have people you do not even know come just because they love the Lord and want to help you rebuild your homes and your lives. It is easy for us to develop compassion fatigue as we hear about one disaster after another. Yet when we are tempted to become tired of giving, just imagine how we would feel if Statesboro and Bulloch County were under water. Then we will remember just how blessed we are to be able to give to others. ---Pastor Jimmy Worship Services: Sunday School: Sanctuary: Fellowship Hall: Classrooms: 8:30AM & 11:00AM 9:01AM & 11:00AM 10:00AM Sunday, October 11, 2015 8:30, 9:01 & 11:00AM Traditional - Rev.
