Sunday, July 22, 2012 Country Line Dance Lessons in the air-conditioned St. Clare Parish Center 6:30 PM - 8 PM Tuesday, July 17 and Tuesday, July 24 $7 per class at the door Instructor Dawn Rathbun has many years of experience as a DJ, Line Dancer, Instructor, and has also choreographed line dances. Proceeds will benefit the St. Clare Parish Center Building Fund. Catholicism: A Journey to the Heart of the Faith A DVD series authored by Fr. Robert Barron Each Wednesday through August 8 Discussion period will follow each episode. There will be two showings each Wednesday in the Parish Center. 9:15 AM led by Fr. With creator and host Father Robert Barron, you will learn what Catholics believe and why, all the while being immersed in the art, architecture, literature, beliefs, and practices of the global Catholic tradition.
Parishioners are invited to leave nonperishable food items in the vestibule on the weekend of August 4 and 5. The food pantry is low on all items. A cash donation would be appreciated so that additional foods may be purchased for disbursement. Please make all checks payable to St. Vincent de Paul Society. All donations are seriously needed and will be greatly appreciated. Alcoholics Anonymous meets every Thursday night from 6 to 7 PM in the St. Clare Church Parish Center, located at 62 Crandall Avenue in Westerly, Rhode Island. Al-Anon At Ender s Ender s Island, Mystic, Connecticut Thursday evenings at 7 PM At Al Anon Family Group meetings, friends and family members of problem drinkers share their experiences and learn how to apply the principles of the Al Anon program to their individual situations. They will learn that they are not alone in the problems they face, and that they have choices that will lead to a greater peace of mind, whether the drinker continues to drink or not. This is a meeting open to all and is ADA accessible. Respite Care Program Accepting Applications Help for Caregivers The Diocese of Providence s Office of Community Services and Catholic Charities provides assistance to family caregivers who care for a person over 60 years of age, or someone with Alzheimer s Disease of any age. If you are one of the more than 100,000 Rhode Islanders providing care, you may need a break! The Respite Care Program can help you arrange services such as in-home workers, adult day care, or overnight care in a licensed care facility. For low to moderate income seniors, assistance in paying for respite care may be available. Take care of yourself by taking a break. St. Clare Stewardship Ministry Corner The next Stewardship Meeting will take place on Tuesday, July 23, at 6:30 PM in the lower rectory. Stewardship meetings are held on a bi-monthly basis and all are welcome. The Prayer Ministry is dedicated to those who request our prayers. To join this ministry or to send a prayer intention, please write in the Book of Intentions near the Baptistry or e-mail mbrockmann@cox.net. The Respect Life Ministry helps the parish live the Gospel of Life by promoting and protecting the sanctity of all human life from conception to natural death. Before Mass on the First Friday of every month, the Rosary is offered before the Blessed Sacrament for an end to abortion. Please join us. The Hospitality Ministry provides a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere for members of the St. Clare community and visitors, as well as new parishioners, to meet and interact with one another in a positive way. This ministry provides opportunities to promote parish fellowship and, when necessary, to assist the Pastor with special events. Meetings take place the first Thursday of every month at 8:30 AM in the Parish Center. All are welcome. The Helping Hands Ministry reaches out to those who are needy, elderly, sick or in need of bereavement consolation. This ministry meets on the first Tuesday of every month at 4 PM in the Parish Center. Enter through the door in the rear parking area. Please feel free to come to these meetings; new faces are always welcome. The next meeting is on Tuesday, August 7, at 4 PM.
