As our 2014- year comes to an end and we get ready for a Great 2015 year, Cheryle and I want to wish each of you a Happy and Healthy New Year. I want to apologize to our Chapter members who normally get our newsletter via the US mail. We had a little miss communication between Linda and myself on where the lists of addresses were. So I hope we now have this resolved and you will be in the loop from here on out. I understand the Ozark weekend trip was a lot of fun. From what I have heard Boomer had to work for his dinner and we have photos to prove this along with what he had for dinner. Cheryle and I wish we could have been part of this, but this was my 1 st weekend after my 2 nd knee replacement. So my 1 st opportunity to go and do anything outside of the house was Saturday December 13 th. Which just happen to be the night for the Toys for Needy Children. I would like to thank everyone that showed up for this. The ladies at the Church prepared a wonderful meal and also sang for us, so for those of you that were there, I hope you had as good of a time as Cheryle and I. Then my 2 nd opportunity, of course, was the next day, which was our Dirty Santa Christmas Party. Again several of you attended. We had great participation from our neighboring Chapter F. So a big Thanks to them and I hope you had a wonderful time also. To top it all off we were honored to have our Iowa District Directors Tom and Sue Wright and our Iowa Region Assistant Directors Lonnie and Diane Borseth. Then we had a very special Guest that took time out of his very busy schedule. Yes you guessed it; we were honored to have the Big Guy himself, Santa Claus. Yes, Santa himself came and joined our party, as he wanted to see what this dirty Santa party was all about. I believe he also had a good time and I hope he keeps all of us on the nice list after some of the package stealing that went on at the party. (Continued on page 2)
THE SOARING EAGLE FROM OUR CHAPTER DIRECTOR PAGE 2 (continued from page 1) Congratulation goes to Leslie Rainbolt, who was winner of the last chance drawing of $40.00. To Jim Rainbolt and Sue Olenick who won the marshmallow game. Thanks to everyone and we hope to see each of you at our Chapter meeting January 10th, 2015. Please mark your calendar and make plans to come and see what new things we have in store for 2015. I would also like to challenge each of you to also mark you calendar for the following week, as this is the 10th year for the Crazy Supper in Toledo, IA. I understand that this is a Great Time. Thanks, Kevin Miller Chapter E Director FROM OUR CHAPTER EDUCATOR: Well it's that time of year again, when the bikes and trikes are cleaned and put up for the long haul over winter? Which brings up the battery and tire pressure issue. Be sure to put the battery on a battery charger, and check your tires with a tire pump. Tire pumps range in prices from $36.95 to $100.00. They can inflate a tire in 6 min. to 9 min. Some have lighter plug-ins and some have battery clamps, some have both. Also some have flashlights and a tire gauge. Some are so small they can be carried on the bike. Keep those batteries and tires up for those once and awhile rides. Be safe my friends Delbert Stephens Chapter E Chapter Educator MAD Coordinator 319-752-0451 mrbckst@aol.com Burlington s Christmas Lighted Parade 11-29-14
THE SOARING EAGLE FROM OUR ACTIVITY DIRECTOR: PAGE 3 Osage Beach Weekend 12-5-14 Hope this fines everyone had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. At the start of the New Year I want to recap a little. Lets start with the Christmas parade, Val and I would like say thanks to Mike, Linda and Liana, their granddaughter, Delbert and his grandson (Shay), Rev. David, and Jim Rainbolt for riding with me in the parade, we had pictures all over facebook too. I would like to say thanks to all that showed up and the support from the ones that could not on the Toys For Needy Children in Keokuk. We had lots of Toys and food items to give to them plus all the money collected that night, and the Food was excellent, just ask anyone that went. Kevin, Val, and I are still looking for someone to replace us as activity director, we have enjoyed digging for dates for you and stuff to do, but it comes a time when you just need to slow down, and we seem to not be able to make it to the things going on, we are not leaving or going anywhere, Iowa E Rocks in Linda's words, we couldn't say it any better. Thanks for everyone that showed up for the Iowa E Dirty Santa Christmas Party, it was a blast; we had a lot of fun. On the women s side the crock-pots seemed to be the hot item. The men s side, it was the tools, which were stolen a lot. The food was great and the games were fun, I sure hope everyone had a good time. Since the 2015 Wing Ding and the Davis Rally have moved to the month of September. We are thinking about moving the Chicken run to sometime in July. It s just a thought for now, so think about it and let us know what you want at our next meeting.
